considering teams in the abbl have 800k to 1mil in salary..
a 200k SG is not out of the ordinary.

He's not for keeps. Just trying to make a few bucks off him in a transfer. Was probably a bad idea. We'll see next week.

Thats higher than I expected (was really just an enquiry). That does make it achievable... Just not sure if you can avoid having at least some weakness if you spend 25-30% on 1 guard. 250k on a guard is roughly equivalent to 400k on a tall, so surely there would have to be some give somewhere... Still, im not saying i can't be wrong on that.

@ axis: I do see what you are doing and I'm not passing judgement. I just look at the risk management side of it. To make profit you will need to sell at over 1 mill to get back the purchase price, the 250k salary and the transfer tax. I'm assuming by the purchase price you were the only bidder? If so, the likelyhood of doubling that price just to break even a week later is low. Not saying its not possible, just that the risk of extra losses when it doesn't happen is a more likely scenario.

No risk, no reward.

Plus, even if I lose out, I learn for next time.

that is really interesting i dont know why u guys were making so little

i was in d3 & making more than that back then

by memory dont really have good records but i think around then leage average was 60k & i remember being double the average

@ axis123 not that i want to encourage more daytrading but i think there r only 2 areas still 2 make great profits

1 - skill training - you can still find good players with massive flaws then spend a season training those flaws & then sell but this requires specific purchases and a team wide plan - but if 4 example u dont care if u win or lose u could 4 example find 6 decent big men with bad rebounding train them all 4 a season & sell all for a good profit

2 - trading high potential rookies - dont be like koop & never play or train them so they become slowly worthless, but lets say u have ur real players u r training each 2 weeks u could add 2 rookies & do js or 1on1 for 2 weeks, get them some pops & relist @ a big profit, 18yo hi pot players with skills @ strong or proficient get snapped up

the best thing with the rookies is they only cost u 5k a week, not 250k & u have 2 do 2 pos training some time right?

Well our current Div 2 league average is 67k, and tanking is at an all time high. The profit is really irrelevant anyway. The income is how you judge the strength of the economy. I could run at a loss this season in Div 2 and relegate, tank next season in Div 3 and make over 100k pw.

When I promoted, my salaries were just over 200k and I was making no profit. As soon as I was on Div 2 income I consistently made over 100k pw (i didnt purchase any players until I needed them to avoid relegation). The only way you could make that amount of profit in Div 3 would be to heavily tank. Probably not in the current economy, but definitely 7 seasons ago.

i think my team was unusual cause i had strong guards for the time but weak big men

i have nfi about my income but i know my costs found an old printout of my team

season 12 i had a 19-3 record made the finals so not a bad season

pg rad 9k
sg xie 15k
sf pawel 8k
pf gomen 11k
c giovinco 12k

bench was random scrubs none more than 8k

so i was paying less that 100k on salaries & dont know how big my arena was but i got more than 9k turning up to games so ... awesome found it

an old economic record 7 6 2010 week 11 season 12 (the best profit)

Player Salaries: $ 97 000
Staff Salaries: $ 39 000
Scouting: $ 10 000 (i have always sworn that i have always spent 20k wrong)

Attendance: $ 176 000
Merchandise: $ 40 000
TV Contract: $ 72 000

Typical Weekly Net Income:$ 126 000

how is that?

on a different topic

tanking is at an all time high

can u blame anyone

i feel like a total sucker having so much $ invested in players as their value halves each season

i was just scouting WAB 4 our match & going through their transfer history

wow they really got burnt by the market crash

Juraj Hoferica Bought INTERIER KRSKO 7/24/2011 $ 2 200 000
Juraj Hoferica Sold johny i tak przegracie 2/20/2012 $ 205 100

Abel Jiménez Bought Leça-mar Warriors 1/25/2011 $ 1 768 700
Abel Jiménez Sold New coming Champs 2/17/2012 $ 450 000

Aristomenis Moraitis Bought K.B.Trepça 12/1/2010 $ 1 150 000
Aristomenis Moraitis Sold Boney M B.C. 2/14/2012 $ 742 900

Dom Redd Bought Free Agent 3/8/2011 $ 1 900 000
Dom Redd Sold 科科園區2/14/2012 $ 583 800

those r the biggest 4 this year but there are lots more small ones

just those 4 deals total 2 about 5 million $$$ in losses

sorry surgeon if this seems like im picking on u im not

what im saying is that with players values going down so fast right now what is better to hold onto players or cash?

you, me, kynlala, adam, jw, players & WCS all have big rosters with heavy salary bills

at the end of the season 1 team (probably kynlala but im sure some of us will give them our best shot) will promote & the rest of us will just have happy memories

im not telling any1 to tank, i cant do it i get 2 annoyed if i lose, but i can sure see why some are

teams like marmots, celtics, WAB & ur buddy YPB r making a fortune

but so must be teams like cccpba & goaussie who have great records with cheap rosters

I think the constant devaluation of players is one of the only ways for newer teams to be competitive. The one time bonuses at the start of the seasons aren't enough.

In order to keep people registering, playing and signing up for supporter, they have to find ways to level things out I guess.

Perhaps I'm wrong.

The market's not totally dead. There's still definitely money to be made if you do it right - i.e. my most recent purchase/sales - 1 I did wrong (Maniezzo), 2 I did right:

Silvano Maniezzo Bought Yes we did! 2/19/2012 $ 677 500
Silvano Maniezzo Sold ProhopU 3/5/2012 $ 612 000

Joaquim Vilela Sold larrys cable guys 3/2/2012 $ 400 000
