Relegation match #1 : juntion 9 vs Thunder SJ
While Pacific Storm and Lionheart Jaguar are sitting comfortably at no5 position, 4 other teams are battling in out in a best of 3 match to see who stays and who possibly might drop to div III. We wish all the teams the best for the upcoming matches.
1st of these relegation match is rising young team juntion 9 vs recently discovered computerised manager Thunder SJ.
Regular Season game 1: juntion 9 86 - Thunder SJ 30
juntion 9
PPG: 79.7(9th), RPG: 46.5(5th-tied with Hoop Magical & Bobbleheads), APG: 21.9(9th), ORPG: 13(3rd- tied with Flyer Sonic)
Aiantas Spiridon: 41.8mpg, 9.1ppg, 13.2rpg, 4.9apg, Only player in II.1 to be top 10 in both rebounds(5th) and assists(10th)
juntion 9 (not to be confused with junction 8) is a rising young team in the toughest conference(big 8) of the toughest league(II.1) in Singapore. Most managers would probably have melted under the pressure and quit after 3 weeks of losing 6 games straight by an average of 30 pts but not juntion 9. What doesn't kill makes you stronger truly applies to this team as he builds them up from scratch in a league full of powerhouses. Even though he finds himself in the relegation matches, it is a good platform to learn more about the game and his roster. Watch for juntion 9's big 3 Lucilo Maramag, Pablo Salazar Cabrera and Aiantas Spiridon step up their games for these important 2 matches. The big 3 account for more than half the team's scoring (56.6pts), more than 2/3 of rebounding (30.3 rebs) and more than half the team's assists (12.3 assists). The heart and soul of the team, Aiantas Spiridon, is the only player in II.1 to be top 10 in both rebs and assists. The big 3 will definately pave the way to victory for the relegation matches and fans of juntion 9 has only greats things to look forward to this season on.
Thunder SJ
PPG: 61.4(15th), RPG: 40.4(11th), APG: 14.4(13th), BlkPG: 3.2(16th)
Shatrunatp Singh: 41.8mpg, 9.4ppg, 10.7rpg, 1.2 BlkPG, 7th in league for rebound per game
Almost everything about Thunder SJ is a mystery except for their near bottom stat line. Even their manager was a mystery to everyone in II.1 until very recently he is finally uncovered to be a computer. This means the 18 players on Thunder SJ has been receiving orders and strategy from a robot. Still, through a robot manager and coach with hearts(if they have one) colder than steel, they made it to 6th place with a 4-18 record in great 8. Kwek Meng Loong is their top scorer averaging a abysmal 12.6ppg. Their lone bright star, Shatrunatp Singh, can rebound well but has a shooting range no longer than his arms. Still, like computerised robots- oh wait he is one, Thunder SJ will send his "A" team to march like machines into the basketball court for the relegation games. juntion 9's big 3 will have their own way in the game sending a message that they are to be respected in the league. Thunder SJ's fans, robots or not, are hoping for a real human manager to take over their team and bring them to possible glory. But for now, they will most likely be soundly defeated by juntion 9.
