Hello and welcome!

1. Don't touch your arena just yet, and don't be too worried about buying players right off. Take some time and get accustomed to what skills are important to each position, and who works the best where on the team you already have. There are several newbie tips in the sticky thread in this forum (3944.1), which is worth reading a few times.

2. Don't worry about changing staff until you actually need to do so. Since there are only a couple more scouting weeks in this season, I wouldn't invest in scouting until around the end of the season, when scouting investments for next season begin.

3. This depends on who you ask. About 12-14 players is the norm for most teams. Plus, you'll be getting 3 new players in the draft soon, anyway.

Thanks a ton! Mind you, just checked my country... looks like we are 2-3 people in all :( Still, need a start somewhere lol

I'll start hitting the firing buttons soon - quite a load of rubbish there!

Another quick question:
My team has a lot of goodish centers, and not enough forwards. What sort of penalties am I looking at if I play a center in one of the forward positions (other skills being similar/better of course).

My big tip for team selection is this:

go and read the rules section entitled Nomenclature. it lists how each players skills affect the match engine and ratings. Then try to fit your players skill sets into the positions that need them.

Don't worry too much at what the players suggested position is on his player page. If you think that one of your centers has the skills to play at PF or SF...play him there.

What he said. Every game I play a guy at Power Forward whose "best position" is Center.

And listen to WFU03 about the arena as he would know better than I. I never even bothered to check what division you were in, sorry.
