Without seeing the other skills, I'm betting he hit his potential cap, and is going to train slower than molasses.

I have two 27 year old capped players getting training minutes.

So I think the answer is yes.

what exactly is the potential cap? is it maximum for a player's total skill points? or is sensational the potential cap for players with potential star?

Or the better question, what shall I do with him? Train him until he raises at least Jump Shot and Jump Range once more (after all the weeks of training I invested here). Or shall I stop training him immediately, cause he most likely will never raise any skills again?

are there indications or something like a rule of thumb whether my player has reched its cap. it is really frustrating, that he didn't receive a skill up after 10 full weeks of training.

star is a pretty average potential and 21 is still quite young. i've trained players with the potential all star at the age of 21 way higher than that guy.

.

Allstars typically cap out at about $50,000.

That is wrong. There are 50 players on the TL at this moment with all-star potential and wages over 50k per week (including on at 92k). There are three on my team, two of whom will be over 70k next season.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

Being capped doesn't mean the player won't improve anymore, the training will just slow down considerably. Also improvement at higher skills add a lot to salary, which means getting 2 pops or something over the 50k mark will take your player to 70k or more.
So yes, it's indeed possible there are a lot of players with allstar potential and 50k+ salary, but a small part of them was trained before the BBs introduced potential or was trained at the higher multiplied training speeds even before potential was introduced, and the other part of them just trained considerably slower after hitting the cap, but did improve.

The allstar cap surely is around 50k. (maybe a few K less or more). A perfect example is this player;

Ziv Shpigler(4192663)

Weekly salary:
$ 48 281
DMI: 486500
Age: 23
Height: 6'9" / 206 cm
Potential: allstar *
Game Shape: proficient

Jump Shot: proficient Jump Range: atrocious
Outside Def.: awful Handling: inept
Driving: proficient Passing: inept
Inside Shot: wondrous Inside Def.: tremendous
Rebounding: sensational Shot Blocking: mediocre
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: inept
Experience: awful

As you see at the salary update he got exactly 48k, just under the cap. At the 1st training in the season he double popped IS and ID, getting him above 50k.

After that I wanted to squeeze another ID pop out of this guy, to increase his value a lot before selling him. This took me 7 weeks (!)
