Fairly certain it works like this:

LCD - coach will put whoever he feels is best for a position there, even if not listed as a preference in your depth chart.

CPDC - coach puts whoever he feels is best on the court, but only if they are in the 3 fields from the depth chart (unless all 3 are injured / fouled out of course)

Not sure about that.

I've never seen a USA NT player make the court if he wasn't listed to play, and the Reserves get garbage time if any at all.

I'm not dismissing that statement, though. I can't say for certain it doesn't happen at all.

Just speaking from my experiences with it.

Not sure if the NT minutes are that relevent to this situation though because (luckily) the USA NT is blessed with quality starters, backups & reserves, & the best 5 are generally chosen in their best postion, so the coach only needs to decide if they are fit enough to keep on playing.

I strongly feel he is right.
I changed from let coach decide (what I always played succesfully and with good result) to coach picks from chart when I started training inside defense.
the reason was that I put 3 centers on the field in order to get them all trained, and my coach took my SG and put him on the court for the SF. I decided that he did this because he felt my SG should play on the SF position, which seems the only logical explaination to me. Both Centers I had put on the roster for SF where not in fould trouble, nor injured, still they where replaced by my SG.

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.
