At the end of the regular season, there are 2 1/2 weeks of playoffs. In the end of the playoffs, promotion and relegation is run. The draft, of course, and then the new season starts with the first tournament game.

...and in the meantime if you came 5th or 8th you go broke very fast. If you lose in the first round of the playoffs you go broke very slowly. It is also a horrid time for training if you are in this situation. I never understood why 5th place is so horribly punished missing out on 2 weeks income and 2 weeks training. Moral: Don't end up 5th!

So say I'm likely gonna finish either 7th or 8th in the league, I will have to pay all salaries for two weeks with no income and I can't have scrimages for training either?

If you finish 7th or eighth you will get at least two games for the relegation series. You will also get scrimmages for two weeks. You will have to pay salary but you will not get gate receipts from that week (you'll still get merch and TV money).

I am a big fan of the idea of no gate receipts for some teams in the off season. Anything that forces teams to plan ahead, make tough choices, and break out of routines is good for a strategy game.

8th place don't play relegation series. You are automatically relegated

6th/7th place play a best of 3 relegation series with the winner staying in the division and the loser being relegated.

Yup. Typo on my part. Eighth is slammed down a division without a relegation series, my mistake.

they really should do something about the lack of income when you finish 5th or 8 th , I nearly went broke last season when I ended up 5th
