if you're asking about prioirities in draft I beleive age, rating and potential are all important. I like 18 yo with at least 3 balls potential. If you are asking actual draft results it's crappy as always. I have never been able to draft superstar or above.

I have not always had the best luck in the draft either. German was drafted in the 2nd round and he is MVP potential so on that one I got lucky and it has paid off.

You guys made me panic a bit as if the draft priority were up.

I was told that the priority should be

1. Age
2. Potential
3. Performance

potential has got to be more important than age, who wants an 18 yo with bench warmer potential over a 19 yo with superstar potential

I suppose but I'm going to filter by age first then sort out the low potential guys.

So here's my "top" prospect to sort of illustrate my point.

PLayer #3 is 18 years old with a 5 ball rating and a 4 ball potential. He went 1-8 from the field (0-2 from 3) he went 3/4 from the line with 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. If he would've been 19, he would've dropped below all of the "unknown" 5 ball rating/4 ball+ potential guys where I did not know their ages. My reasoning is that I'd rather take a chance on getting an 18 year old than be assured of getting a 19 year old. He would have, however, stayed on the draft board above all of the complete unknowns and the 18/19 year olds with less than 5 ball ratings/4 ball potentials.

Does that make sense?

Now let me offer my "common sense" thoughts on what I think I like about this kid and you guys might be willing to correct me if I"m wrong.

#1) good age, good rating, good enough potential
#2) his 1/8 from the field tells me that his js/jr aren't tops but I can train those.
#3) his 7 rebounds tells me that this kid actually has some decent rebounding skills - which, if I'm switching back to guard training his a huge boost.
#4) his 5 assists tells me that his passing is going to be mediocre-ish and very trainable.
#5) his 3 steals tells me the same thing about his passing

Is that a fair assessment of what this scouting report is telling me about this player?

1. Agreed, great pick.
2. Maybe, but do not read too much into box scores. That's one game, what if a great defender guarded him? Last night I held Corsetti to 3-17. If you saw that, you would think this guy sucks, but if you look at 10 games, you'd see that's an exception to the rule.
3. Yes, I would think at least med/ave/res/
4. maybe, it could be as low as inept, but not any lower. IMO
5. this is what I know about steals, OD and HN are the two biggest factors. George Braden led our league in steals this season, and those may or may not be two of his highest rated skills :)

So yeah, pretty fair job. DRAFT HIM!
