The Team Ratings in the boxscores don't indicate that. He went 7-21 against a team with Awful perimeter defense team rating (20398141), 3-11 against an Inept (low) (20398134), and 3-12 against a Pitiful one (20398119). In all cases my team's Outside Shooting rating was better or about the same. None of the individual players he faced were high salaried; some of them were in the $3000 range.

The guy's played 15 games for me, including cup, scrimmage, and private league, and he's been awful in all of them. There's got to be something more.

This is a problem when you play Look Inside. Your first priority is to try get the ball inside. If they can't get it inside then they are forced to take shots from the perimeter. These are usually contested shots so thus he more often misses than hits.

Try playing a more rounded offense or a outside tactic and you will notice that his shooting %will increase.

My opinion:

If you are playing look inside, then your guards also drive into basket sometimes (At least it happens to me). i I think there your players scoring factor comes more from driving & inside shot. So inept driving + pitiful inside shot is not so good in this case.

Exactly! And if the opponent SG has an Inside Def. of 4+ then your guy is just unable to do more.
See the replays of your matches. Where is he shooting from? If the most shots are inside the paint then you get your answer...

Now that I've reviewed some of the game logs, that makes a lot of sense. When I play Look Inside, my best SG has been the guy with Strong driving, even though he is not as good as shooter as the other guys I've played at the position.

The guy in the OP is taking a lot of long 2's. That suggests he is having trouble driving and has to shoot from a distance. Still, I play Base Offense about half the time and he's having the same problems there.

Thanks for your advice. And thanks to everyone who responded! Everyone's input was most helpful.

Good point, but I'd love to know how Kern has prominent experience when he's only played two seasons. From what I've seen it's about one level per season (atrocious=rookie, pitiful=1 year, awful=2 years etc.)
