NT Post Game Report: Panama 2/28

O Canada! A land full of culture, class, maple trees, the Raptors, and this years Americas Tournament which continued tonight when the USA NT played the Panama NT at the Freakys Center. Most of the American NT staff was unsure of what they were going to expect going in but still wanted to instill the message to the players to go out there and play hard. The US kept with it's normal Look inside offense and matched up man to man on defense. Panama did use a 2-3 zone but the US guards were too much taking the right shots at the right time and putting the US up big at the half 62-52. Starting at PF was Lynn Tirado but after 13 minutes into the game looked like was TRYING to leave the arena and get out of there perhaps trying to pull a "Jairo". Panama did have its runs but the defense played on Panamas guards may have been key as they were kept to poor shooting percentages. Offense was not a problem for the USA NT with every player scoring a bucket and 6 in double digit scoring! Led by Martin Medrano's 17 Points and Cliff "MC Hammer" Gonzales energy off the bench for a double-double the USA soared to a 110-90 Win Over Panama and take another step forward in the Americas Tournament!

The two selected players for interviews were mentioned above, Martin Medrano and Cliff Gonzales, although A Lot of the US roster contributed greatly these two really stuckout:

SpF: "Hey Martin, Nice job out there you really showed leadership out on the court"
Medrano: "It's nothing you know, took my shots, dished the dimes, stayed out of foul trouble *cough* Tirado *cough*
SpF: "What's your thoughts on the recent fouling of this game of Tirado and Jairo?"
Medrano: "Well to tell you the truth since we are in Canada... I caught Jairo and Lynn.. at a Justin Bieber concert.. some sick stuff I know and ever since then there not the same... it's actually kinda scary.."
SpF:" Hmmm so you're saying that the two have caught.. Bieber Fever!"
Medrano:"Pssh only way I can think of that could explain it."
SpF:" Ooo.. those poor souls.. well hopefully they get cured and start to play some better ball but again impressive game tonight with team high 17 points, 7 assist and 2 steals and boards!"
Medrano: "Thank you!"

Cliff Gonzales:"Hey SpF!, so what'd you think of the game?"
SpF:"It was a great game and also great play by you! really filled in the shoes of Tirado once he fouled out."
Gonzales: " Yeah gotta take and cherish the moment you know what I mean?"
SpF:"Yeah and you did with 12 points and 10 boards along with 2 steals, what's your motivation out there on the court?"
Gonzales:"That i'm representing the United States, that I have to play my heart out, and you know what I said every time I took and made a shot!?!"
SpF:"....."
Gonzales:"CAN'T... TOUCH.. THIS!"
SpF:"Well uhh congratulations on tonights win and look forward to seeing what you can do next week!"

Locating NT coach Jfarb took a while but I eventually found him after asking NT players, Willis Lundy and Jairo Alejandro Renteria where he was and stumbled into an interesting conversation..
Lundy: C'mon man got ta git yo head in da game! Mik Dem Haterz pay da ***** price, we godda represent the u of s of a!
Renteria: "I Knosh... what you say.. Jairo play better nexta time."
Sources Say Lundy May take over as Jairo's next english teacher.

Coach Jfarb001 Statement:
"Good effort all around, our plan was to go inside, but Panama came out in a 2-3 zone so our guards did what they had to do, make open shots. I wanted to give Tirado a shot at starting, but apparently he wanted to leave early to watch a showing of Eat Pray Love, so he pulled a Jairo and fouled out in 13 minutes and then ran out of the arena. Don't know what it is about this team and girly movies but HEY MADRID! YOU WERE A MINUS 9 OUT THERE TODAY! WHAT? WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY MOM IS A MINUS 9? YOU WANNA GO?!"
