You could try just using a /connect <server address> in Webirc. Connect to any server and then connect the the BB one with the slash command.

the server is: irc.buzzerbeater.org
I hate the tiny little chat box too lol. Just have mibbit connect to that server on startup or use the /server command.

The drop down list doesnt have buzzerbeaters in it... I get a 'Could not resolve hostname' error when i try to use the /server command..
Anything else?

/connect, not /server. /server is a server-side command used for irc server network routing.

Using /connect irc.buzzerbeater.org
I get this: 'Permission Denied- You do not have the correct IRC operator privileges'

Hmm, odd. I get the same error. Can you just do it from the mibbit.com main page? Click server next to the list, then type in irc.buzzerbeater.org from there. That worked out just fine for me, although naturally it means you have to manually /join each channel you want.

/server irc.blahblahblah.extension is the correct command. Try it and it will work, either on a webchat program or an irc client you install and run yourself
