I think this should be volontary, and every player that has some understanding of fair play would opt-in anyway - I guess it would be more fun to have a chance to win a game now and then, rather than just setting lineups for a couple of months.

EDIT: In addition this could only be done at the end of each season, so a team that wants to tank the next season will be demoted together with the other teams. I think the additional promotion could be handled like a bot promotion, so the next best team that did not win the championship gets the "wildcard".

I dont think any options should be added to encourage this strategy... Things should be implemented to help stop it altogether.

I like the idea of freezing the income for spectators for atleast the game, if it was on the road for his next.

This will never happen with the current draft system in place. Part of the reason I like to tank is for the draft pick. How would this be accommodated in your system?

That would be a problem, yes.

Why don't you offer a solution for this problem?

I don't really know how to solve the problem, though I'm not really a fan of the suggestion of applying for demotion. I think the programming required to allow teams to apply for promotion and dealing with errors such as what happens if all the teams in div 2 want to demote, or if a team in div 3 didn't want to promote, is just too hard to program. Also having to deal with somehow giving the teams that demote extra income for that season and extra season ticket holders for that season is ridiculously unfair.

Consider the following:
A team from div 3 promotes to div 2, realises that he is unlikely to be able to compete, so applies for demotion. He is now going to stay in div 3, and get the attendance and income that he would have gotten in div 2 whilst dominating div 3. It just wouldn't work, sorry. And each time he promotes he will get an additional promotion bonus.
