slower definitily!!!
if it's a much better team and you have one outstanding offensive player, you might try isolation, as another posibility.

Hope it helps!

I think your reply is really bad...
Against a better defence i would always suggest playing faster because when you play slow you look for a great shot and against better defence you will never find one (you know there is a thing called shot clock) thus resulting in many turnovers and last second prayer shots. While playing faster you will get more buckets..

You analysis is the opposite of the general opinion. As long as it works for you, keep doing that. Nothing is set in stone. For example, I let the coach make the subs, and hardly anyone does that.

Check on scrimmages, try to plat against similar teams and play the different paces and share your thougths.

Please backup what you're saying. I don't take a sh*t about the opinion if it isn't said why? Even if it is GENERAL

Patient: This offense is the exact opposite of push the ball. It uses a decreased pace instead of an increased pace. It is generally used against stronger teams in order to try to keep the score as close as possible since there will be less possessions in the game. The same goes for all decreased pace offenses.

Firstly it isnt exact the opposite of ptb because patient is actually outside orentied. Secondly we are talking about better defensive team not better overall if you use patient against a very good defense you will get totally crushed...

I think both sides have some valid points.

If you use a slow paced offense, fewer possessions will be played and that will result in a low scoring game. This may be useful against a stronger opponent in regular season, where points differential play a role on the standings.

That said, I agree that playing patient against a strong defensive team (especially if your offensive flow is lower than his defense), will get you to many last second prayer shots, with a REALLY bad accuracy. I don't think it will generate many turnovers, but you will have low efficiency. I have seen this happen many times and I wouldn't advise anyone doing this.

At last, this is my personal experience, which, by default, is biased and not to be taken as a definitive word.

Why don't you go read what some long-time users have to say about the offense instead of spouting off half-cocked opinions that are far from the truth.

I too am of the opinion that against better defenses, one shouldn't play slow tactics. Slow tactics should be played against better OFFENSIVE teams, not defensive.

In slow tactics, the team will try to find a good look. If it succeeds, the shot will have 70%-80% of chance to go in (these numbers are fictional).
If the team doesn't find a look and the shot is made in last 5 seconds of the attack, the shot will have very low change to go in (for example 20%).
Playing against very good defense will result in most shots taken in last 5 seconds of the attack.

In fast tactics, most of the shots will have an average chance to go in, let's say 45-50%. So why should anyone advocate slow tactics against better defensive teams? Slow tactics should be played against teams with much better offense than your defense to keep the point difference low.
