Blah, just to make it less confusing:

(Starter / Backup / Reserve)
PG: Player1 / Player1 / Player1
SG: Player2 / Player2 / Player2
SF: Player3 / Player3 / Player6
PF: Player4 / Player4 / Player7
C: Player5 / Player5/ Player8

This was strictly follow depth chart, 8 players active, and all assigned to the depth chart. Player8 did not play a single second at C. Player8 was subbed in at SG, played 20 seconds, then switched to PG for the final 14 minutes. Why did this happen?

Total Minutes
Player1 - 37 minutes
Player2 - 45 minutes
Player3 - 34 minutes
Player4 - 34 minutes
Player5 - 48 minutes

This makes no sense. I get Player2 getting pulled a few minutes (lowest stamina & skills), but why was the depth chart completely ignored in garbage time?

First of all, let me just say that I don't have an acceptable explanation. But let me try and figure out what happened anyway. Can you post the stamina levels of your players? Sometimes that has a pretty big effect on the player changes.
Also, I noticed your starters played 34 minutes and then the reserves entered, when you had +31. It's very weird, I agree, since your PG didn't have one foul nor was injured.

Thanks for the reply.

PG was good enough to come in at SG for a few minutes, late in the 4th quarter!

Well, my starting SG (Player2) has awful stamina & being subbed out for a brief rest is expected. But that doesn't explain why the reserve center didn't even play 1 second at center! PG has decent stamina. Last season I accidentally used "let coach decide" & he still played all 48 minutes!

3 things that make it even stranger to me:
#1 The starting C & the reserve C were both out of position PGs (set to defend the SG position). It's not as if the coach had to put in a worse outside defender. & neither has great offensive center skills...
#2 My starting PG was an actual true PG, & not a complete scrub.
#3 The coach respected the starter & backup settings until garbage time. Why would he go rogue all of a sudden with reserves?

I don't know at this time why this has happened. I'll have to ask around a little to see if any other dev has some idea.

Thanks. But wow, are you sure about the reserve spots? It used to work fine in the past when I set reserves...

Also, if I left the 3rd spots empty then wouldn't it be out of my control who gets subbed out in garbage time? I wanted 2 players to play all 48 (or as much as stamina allowed) & the 3 reserves to get 12+ minutes at non-training positions. (when inserted in garbage time). I never remember the coach completely ignoring orders like this before. I only posted this here because I'm wondering if the defensive switch might have caused it. (Can't think of any other reason.)

BTW, about the training -- what I always found weird was a guy getting outside defense training, when playing PG on only offense!
