It's better to have solid inside and outside defenders, both starting and substitute players. Locking down on good Inside will exploit your weakness outside... it's better not to have any weakness in defense.

Well of course. But i dont have the money to do that, at least i dont think i do. So if you had to pick one, which would you prefer?

i think you should mix it up. Get a defensive player in that position and also get a really good offensive player who can also pass but most importantly get an all around player. When you do this you will get a good deep bench. You can use your defensive players against your opponents high scoring players.

Just sell the weakest in your team... if he still has value, though.

At your level, forget about second string and back up players. Focus on improving your starting 5 and aggressively training.
