NT Post-Game Report: Bahamas 8/22

Arriving at Reaper Arena here in the country of Mexico, I noticed the team was a lot happier and relaxed this week. When I went over to Matt Hurst to ask him what was up with the upbeat mood among the team he responded with "It's Bahamas's Week". It may have not have been the most daunting task but team USA was set to take on the Bahama's NT here in the America's Tournament!

Starting Line-Up:
PG: Dexter "Dimes" Dennison
SG: Martin "Money" Medrano
SF: Irwin "The American Army Knife" Velasco
PF: Lorenzo "The Big Nasty" Bland
C: Jairo Alejandro Renteria aka "The Beast"

Both teams offensively decided to go with a motion offense, defensively Bahamas 3-2'd the USA while the USA used a man to man to counter the Bahama's Motion. It was a quick start for the US NT as they started the game hot and took a 16-0 lead before the Bahama's got their first bucket from downtown. At the end of the first quarter, Irwin Velasco with the ball, time winding down, rose with a hand in his face to drop the shot and end the first quarter on a high note for America as he hit the Buzzerbeater! The crowd was going crazy except for Jelme in the front row who seemed to be cringing. At the end of the first the USA led 27-6. The second quarter was much of the same story as the United States continued to fire on all cylinders! At the end of the second buzzer, the USA led by 40!

Halftime was pretty laid back for the most part. Assistant NT Head Coach Brian tried to get everybody's attention but Jairo was speaking obnoxiously loud about how he bought the entire team Justin Bieber tickets for when the Bieber Fever tour comes to Mexico City. Frustrated Brian climbed to the top of a locker and began a speech..

"Gentlemen.. Working hard to get my fill, everybody wants a thrill, payin' anything to roll the dice, just one more time some will win, some will lose, some were born to sing the blues, Oh, the movie never ends, It goes on and on and on and on, Don't stop believin' Hold on to the feelin' Streetlights peopleee!! Don'.....

Jairo: *Interrupting Brian* " And I was like... Baby, baby, baby oooh, like baby, baby, baby nooo, like baby, baby, baby oooh, I thought you'd always be mine *Whispers* mine.."

After our Karaoke halftime, the NT was ready for the second half!

Following suit with the first two quarters, the United States outscored Bahamas 29-7 in the third quarter. Everything was going the United States way and as the 4th quarter started 3 USA players got to shine in the fourth and get some playing time they hadn't got to see much the first three quarters. These players were Joe "The Show" Bronson, Ricky "Logdog" Logsdon and Matt "Big Time" Hurst. Feeling left out, Joe-Bro attempted as many shots as he could possibly in his 16 minutes of play and was 1 shot attempt away from tieing Dexter Dennison for most FGA. With 17 points in 16 minutes Joe-Bro was prolific with points for when he was in. Both Hurst and Logsdon played well in their 13 minutes as well, Logsdon shooting 2-5 from deep (including 1-2 from the 4 point shot area), After each made longball would go over and point to his owner Jfarb who would stare and whisper under his breath, "Ricky, you Douchebag".
Defensively in the 4th quarter, the US NT took it easy on defense and were surprised by the Bahaman firepower as the Bahamas scored more than twice as much in that single quarter than the previous 3 combined with 26 points!

In the end however the USA NT took the 69 point victory, to take another step closer on our path to gold here in the Season 17 America's tournament!

Stay tuned tomorrow as NT Interviews and Coach GM-Jason's statement are released!

*NT Interviews*

The celebrations here in Mexico City had calmed down a bit so I went to the interview table to find Dexter "Dimes" Dennison and Lorenzo "The Big Nasty" Bland available for interviews!

SpF: Hey! Great game out there Dexter, what was your mindset heading into the game?
Dennison: I.. I.. Don't know man.. Just get it over with, I had an NBBA game tuesday, B3 Wednesday, and the Cup Thursday.
SpF: Are you alright Dexter.. you seem a little above the clouds..
Dennison: *Stares with bloodshot eyes* I"M FINE!!
SpF: ... Ok.. Well regardless of anything you may do that's illegal, you did have one of your personal best games for the NT tonight and are a big part for our win so once again congrats!
Dennison: Yeah whatever, I'm going out back

SpF: Lorenzo! Great game out there big man!
Bland: Thanks.
SpF: I mean a double-double but 19 rebounds jeeze you dominated the paint!
Bland: I know.
SpF: What'd you think of your opponents Bahamas?
Bland: Nothing.
SpF: Uh-huh.. Could you in depth tell us you were thinking minutes before the game?
Bland: No.
SpF: Ok.. umm.. What'd you think of the play of your teammates?
Bland: They Good.
SpF: *Scratches Head* Ok Lorenzo last question, what do you think of your new Coach GM-Jason?
Bland: Weird.
SpF: Alright well thanks for the interview.. I guess.. Lorenzo! Good Luck next week!

I later ran around trying to find National Team Head Coach GM-Jason for his game statement when I ran into USA NT fan Mike Tyson!!

SpF: Woah Mikek Tyson! What are you doing here?
Tyson: Watching the team of course, and to get some money somebody owes me from your staff"
SpF: Uh-Oh somebody owes you some cash?
Tyson: Yeah and he's right over there, get out of my WAY!
*Tyson charges at NT assistant Head Coach Brian*
Tyson: You cost me 20 Grand back in Season 11 when you lost to Ice Storm BC for the NBBA title!
Brian: Mike Tyson!?!
*Mike Tyson throws a massive hook and lays Brian flat*
-From a ways away GM-Jelme tricks SF Irwin Velasco to smack Tyson on the head-
Velasco: Ok Jelme I trust you!
*Velasco smacks Tyson on back of head*
Tyson: Velasco! Man I love you, it's a pleasure, Loved watching you back in the day but you guys had that one U21 Coach that always tickled me wrong.. actually he's over there (Points at Jelme) Come here!

Well as Mike Tyson went savage on our NT staff I got the pleasure to hear from NT Head Coach GM-Jason after the game:

This game went pretty much as expected. We got a solid win against an overmatched opponent, and we took care of business. I was really pleased with our balanced scoring. Until Joe Bronson came in the game, we seemed to be really moving the ball around really well, and getting everyone involved. When we play like that, we will be very difficult to stop because you can't just focus on any one or two players because we have so many weapons that can hurt you. I don't care if we are playing a high school team, to hold a team to 24 points through 3 quarters is great defense!!

My patience with Joe Bronson is wearing thin. We had one guy on the team not get an assist in the game, can you guess who? Yes, Joe-Bro :-( Gotta love his confidence, but the he seems to think he has the brightest green light on the plane when it comes to shooting, even though I have repeatedly told him differently!

Coach: Joe, How many times do I have to tell you to chill out on firing the ball up so quick?

Joe: Coach, you don't pay me to watch others shoo the ball, I am here to score.

Coach: You aren't going to be here much longer if you don't wake up! You missed Hurst and Owens down low, wide open, the entire 4th quarter. Those two were 7/9 shooting, and you were cranking up 16 shots, missing most, while they were begging for the ball inside.

Joe: They didn't look all that open to me.

Coach: Get out of my face before I kill you
