I would assume that the manager started with him as an 18yo C with HoF potential and rightly began to train him. I do not see what is so shocking about this besides the fact that the manager has yet to sell him.

He plays too many minutes though. Probably why his manager has been stuck in Div 5 for so long. Rest of his team is pretty useless.

Obviously this is not a good strategy(and I would not be TOO surprised if it was a farm team, but I doubt it). He will not go far with this, maybe if he maintains GS on his stud he could promote into DIV, but he will quickly demote back into DV.

I think he can afford it simple because of his boost in merchandise and if you look at how many seats he has in his arena... Maybe not though. He has to do it somehow, considering he has an 100k player on his team

Not shocking?! Where can you find a team that

1.) has a HOF 18 year old in their starting group of scrubs.
2.) has known enough to train that player from the start.
3.) does not know enough to manage gameshape so that the National Team will look at him.

I don't think there are too many of them out there. Not saying impossible, but rare.

often 1 leads to 3, who would lead the scout to help then with 2. Also the principle to train the youngest player, isnt that bb specific or weird that you didn't figure it out himself.

I got lucky and started with HoF and Superstar 18 year olds on my starting team. I read some help threads when I started and got them in on training right away.

Of course, it took me a while to figure out how to train them well, so they aren't as good as they could be. I don't think the NT had yet started to assign individual scouts to prospect when I started at the end of Season 11, or I'm sure I would have gotten all the advice I could want on how best to train a 5'11" HoF player. ;)
