Excellent question, there are a lot of people that do not care about game shape and I feel that good game shape is a great advantage over those that have poor game shape. Game shape can be a little tough to manage when you are still in the cup, but once you are eliminated it is very easy to get your players to strong-proficient gameshape.
First of all make sure that your players play between 55-75 minutes each week. Some will say 55 is too low, but you kind of have to experiment a little because some players have better game shape when they play more minutes and others less. As a general rule you don't want your players going over 80 minutes per week.
You currently have only 9 players and one is injured so if you are still in the cup or you have booked a scrimmage your players are going to have a lot more minutes than they should. I would suggest a roster of 11-13 players, that way you can play your best players for your league games and your scrubs for your scrimmage and then all your players will have a good amount of minutes.
Oh and make sure you manage your enthusiam too, that is another huge advantage especially come playoff time.
