I'm afraid all substitution tactics other than "strictly follow depth chart" carry that risk (unpredictable minutes). In order to prevent that happening, use "strictly follow..." and the tips written by users in this thread (26712.1). Oh, and use that thread for such reports in the future please.

This is ridiculous! How can "Depth chart until the fourth" mean wrong player starts the game? What's the point of setting starters or having different substitution tactics then?
The other thread is about wrong tactics. You don't want see different bug threads. Does it help you to think there's only one bug, if there's only one thread?

OK, calm down.
First, the substitution tactics don't work properly since most of them are bugged, while "strictly follow depth chart" isn't. That's why I suggest always using that one if you want predictable minutes at predictable positions. We are aware of the issue and will fix it once we have a way to do so. We still have other substitution tactics for new users' sake, since new players would miss them if we disabled the option.
Second, the other thread is about wrong formation and enthusiasm, as stated in the title. Since the formation you set did not match the one you played, I'd say it fit's the thread nicely. You have the right to disagree, of course, but in the end, I need to keep this (bugs) forum clean and tidy. If you can't abide by the rules, your posts may be deleted. I do not enforce this strictly (hence this thread wasn't deleted), so I just politely suggested for future reference to use the other thread. No need to get excited about that, it's normal protocol and the issues will still be addressed, no matter where the posts are written.

Maybe it helps a bit when you ad a warning message about this issue on the lineup page, to avoid confusion.

Wow, that was news to me! I appreciate your honesty, but how can new users miss something that they know nothing of? I think you mean to say new users will find the game limited and won't wanna play it.
But, that is lying to new users. GE in BB is very advanced in terms of representing a real game compared to other sport web games, because it stays true in recreating a real game experience (apart from excessive defensive attempts to catch the ball going out of bounds after a missed shot :) ). So, it's a shame when you find something's there just for the show.
You know best how you want your forum to look, but I believe long threads with different issues are not as efficient, because people do not read them through and just make the same points over and over.
I'm not mad, I won that game mainly because of the bug. I was just seeking the info I got, thank you!

I was thinking the same thing. I just need to figure out what to put in the message.

not so easy, i have trouble with "depth chart until 4th" since you would expect that it act like strictly follow the first 3 quarter and i doubt you want a message where you write that it is a bug especially since you don't know when it get fixed and it might stand there for a long time. Maybe renaming this function might be a solution, especially since the current name is quite confusing.(so people who like the behaviour with this option still can play it)

Else the message is quite easy, you just need to mention that the coach might change the (starting) lineup after his wishes.

I don't know if it is already on your to-do-list, for the game engine but maybe the starter tag could be assigned at the coach lineup and not the setting of the lineup page. For example if your coach put in your backup as a starter(might be still possible with coach decide in future), the starting backup will still be considered as a backup for the blowout substitutions. You also see it when you play coach decide with a blank lineup, that your S5 play in the fourth quarter of blowout games.
