ok, explain the differnc e here between primary and secondary skills. I've seen this mentioned a lot in connection with player skills but I really don't understand what is meant by that.

Primary, is skills used by position, so Center is ID, IS, REB.
Secondary are like, JS, JR, HN, PA, DR, SB, FT etc.

For a center, 8 on passing is great area to be I hear. SB never train, let it pop naturally with ID.

Yeah,... didn't know to put as primary or not, since all advice says never directly train SB

you know? kinda puts it in one of those states of limbo

I've noticed with my bigman that even the ones with lower IS< or even as the one whom didn't ave low IS, but went against bigmen with better ID, if the bigman they were against didn't have decent SB, even with low IS, as long as my bigman had rebounding at par or better to the other guy, they would rebound misses and tip them back in.

I agree with you that IS is overrated. But for the U21 player am training up, I am following the advice of the people who want him trained with the IS and all the shebang etc.
