OK, I have 2 19yo big men..I trained them for the 1st time last FRI in inside shot and both popped. Should i keep training offense for awhile THEN train Defensive skills?? Or alternate? Keep in mind, I am just learning the smart ways of training and its true about 7 footers as mentioned on the forums before....They Train FAST!! Thanks a ton in advance.

the bolded one sounds like the best idea. But make sure before you get to D4 that your big men have 11+ ID, otherwise you will get destroyed in D4 by their Look Insides and 30k Big Men.

also keep in mind to train rebounding and secondaries. Good secondaries like OD, JS, and PA are great on Bigs. Don't make RB the highest skill or train it to 11~13 at most (for a Allstar~Superstar potential player) RB eats up cap. So train ID first, until it gets to prominent or prolific, IS to 9, then RB to 9, then alternate between the three until he has a sensationals across those skills. also have SB about 9 or 10 (i'm a fan of SB)

after that it depends on how you want your Big Man to look

There's a definite elastic effect benefit of training IS a little bit ahead of the others first, though. I would definitely say that the time to train passing / OD, etc. on big men is when they're young and doing so in DV is a bit easier than in higher leagues.

Actually, it depends on how strong your league is, but in a regular league, 9 or 10 ID is the standard. But like tough said, you probably want to have at least 11 ID so that they don't get torched inside.

Edit: 9 SB seems too high in D4. I also believe that SB can be useful, but 5 or 6 SB on your bigs won't kill you in D4.

The two bigs he has that i assume he's talking about are both 5 potential players.

I would prioritize higher on the training list, or switch to two position training if you are set on training these guys. My opinion is that with 6 potential or lower, i would rather invest my time training 5 bigs. I can make these guys cap in roughly 2 seasons without any trouble, so i'd rather slow down to two position training, and get 5 of them trained with an additional season plus a little, and then sell some to the mid market.

If you are set on training lower guys, i think you should definitely invest in out of position training early. it's more skill cap friendly. If you aren't set on training lower cap guys, i'd still invest in it, but you can afford to get IS/ID/REB higher.

SB until i see proof otherwise is rather useless to train until the end.

Depending on what their exact skills are, you might consider training them in Pressure(PG) or 1-on-1(F). Since they're only 5 pot players, what will make them useful down the road (and what will help you sell them for plenty when your team outgrows 5 pot bigs) is being well-rounded.

And when it comes down to training big skills, what I suggest is to make use of the elastic effect while trying to avoid the "imbalance penalty." So do something like train IS to ID+3, Train ID to IS, Train RB to ID/IS, repeat.

I have found it useful to train IS up a bit then Rebound and while doing that you will get some ID pops.
My 20 year old is on the 21 NT side a year early.

IF you do alternate which is the safest or focus on 1 then the other best to do it in this order IS then RB > ID. Doing each until it pops then go to next and repeat is a good way to do it. But I got on a role and did IS until 10 then hit the others.
But doing rotation means your guy becomes more useful sooner.
