His skills weren't high enough for him to go to free agency. Starting this season, the number of free agents is intentionally reduced, and this player didn't meet the requirements.

I think you're going to get continual blow-back on this until you fix it. We needed more FA's, not fewer.

There is nothing to fix as it is a conscious decision to reduce the number of FAs. It's an unpopular one too, but we cannot always just do the popular changes, we need to do what's right.

"Nothing to fix" depends entirely on your point of view. I'll grant you that for those who treat the site as a training exercise, you did the right thing. Players on the transfer market will go farther out of sight than ever.

Not to be harsh, but you better stop promoting the site as a basketball sim, because from that point of view you took a serious step backwards. Of course it is unpopular -- most of us want the site to be a basketball sim, signed up for a basketball sim, paid supporter for a basketball sim. And for the evidence for using "most of us" the way I did, I point to your declining user base. I am considering whether to walk away from the remainder of my paid supporter year.

This is the bugs forum, so discussion like this is improper.

However, your opinion of what constitutes a "basketball sim" is one I find extremely limited and flawed. Training and development of players is a key component of any well designed basketball sim. Unlimited, and largely unusable, free-agents is an indication of a poorly designed basketabll sim.

The declining user base is indeed a fact, but using them as evidence for your case only works if they all agreed with what you are saying as their reason for leaving.

I'd prefer that you don't walk away. Do these FA changes really impact your enjoyment of this game to such a degree that you'd rather not play it?

The FA changes alone aren't the problem. The problem is that the game is designed to be an illogical exercise in training at the expense of the basketball game, at the expense of winning sim basketball games. And yes, it is a big enough problem that I'd walk away from it.

true enough, if the training is logical and subordinate to winning games. Neither is true here, though. As for "Unlimited, and largely unusable, free-agents," that is your fiction, not mine.

With player prices at an all-time high, it is to expect that even less teams will have the chance to promote and stay in higher divisions.

Back in the days the $1 mil bonus for the promotion to Div 1 gave you a solid shot to add one or two key players to compete for places 4-6. Now you can't do nothing with that amount of money... You pay peanuts... You get monkeys.

So in fact lowering the amount of FAs and taking out quality young talent is a bad idea in my opinion. At least short term... With declining user numbers it might work as intended, but thats not how,I would approach the situation.
