+1 for the idea! It'd be warmly welcomed to get box scores in the spreadsheet/txt download, too.

For the shot selection idea, I think following 2K's approach would be the most useful. Essentially it would divide "midrange left" into midrange left corner + midrange left wing, etc.. So maybe a more complete list of shot selection categories would be:

Rim - left
Rim - center
Rim - right
Midrange - left corner
Midrange - left wing
Midrange - center
Midrange - right wing
Midrange - right corner
3FG - left corner
3FG - left wing
3FG - center
3FG - right wing
3FG - right corner

I'm a huge fan of sports statistics and would like to include a shot chart plus advanced stats to the box score like True Shooting, eFG, DRB%, AST/TO Ratio etc.

If you are a supporter (access to play-by-play needed) you can use the app BB_Game_Analyzer to download and analyze the shot distribution data from a given game.

Still I agree that it's a pity we can't have more stats available for all BB users. Even with BB_Game_Analyzer you don't get anything like e.g. FG% of opponents while defended by your player X.

Rapidshare is a long time ago shut down, but app download link can be found here (found it): https://nofile.io/f/1P8WM2X1enK/BB_Game_Analyzer.exe

Yet, I have some dll problem when running it. I'll try again in the coming days...

You can do your own tool if you have the play by play. All the information is in there except who lost the ball after a steal. Perhaps that's what you should ask to be added.

You also have the BBApi which can already be used to download boxscores and build most advanced stats. Ultimately for advanced stats you need both individual and team aggregations, so boxscore is fine. For example I think you could calculate AST% and BLK% or ORtg DRtg from the boxscores.

The only thing the boxscores won't give you is the type of shot, the lineups, who defended who and who assisted who. Boxscores also lack team rebounds and turnovers (i.e. 24 second violations or the famous rebounds going out of bounds)
You could get something like this very easily from the BBApi:

You can ask anyone with some coding knowledge to help you.

I have my own pbp analyser, which works fine and I planned to use for scouting and create advanced or detailed stats. I still need to finish the analysis part, but I won't share this with others as it took me quite some time to put together and I always planned to use it to help my NT and U21 among other things.
