Well, dribbling is closely related to handling, 2 pt shots are a related to jump shot, inside shooting, and jump range, and 3 pt shots are related to jump shot and jump range. There may be some other minor dependencies, but we'll leave those to the user to figure out :-)

Utah Jazz big fan right here as well ;)

i agree with mark about what he said, but i definitly agree with
you about the speed. this is such an importent parameter that
as been completly ignored here as well as in hattrick and other
manager games, and i can't understand how.

Oh, I didn't even notice "speed" on your list, sorry!
Interesting thought... We'll give it some discussion on our end.

I think the reason why speed has been ignored is that although i'd agree its important, its not clear how it gets integrated into a simulation which isn't simulating the positions of players over time. When you start thinking about frameworks for simulating a basektball possesion without explicitly keeping track of where players are.. how would speed figure in to that calculation in a way that is orthogonal from handling or dribbling, etc.

well .. i guess that's all the examples i can think of too... meaning.. all the examples of where i could factor speed in seem to be sort of special case examples.. where speed sort of sounds like a very general sort of skill. None of the other skills..save maybe shot blocking are really that specialized...

i also seem problems with adding skills.. but this is a beta.. we are trying to see if the ball can roll.. and if something dramatic has to happen which is unfair to original users in order to make things significantly better I'm don't think we can rule it out. Transitioning out of beta to me means exactly that this is no longer true.. and irness becomes a dominant consideration.

oh FWIW we have something like 600 users that have logged in in the last 5 days... whether that is an active representation of the size of the community i don't know.. but its 6x more since we let everyone sign up about a month ago.

I am also against adding new skills. even now on the best testing. Simply because i think we have an already big set of skills. And different people will always be able to come up with several different new skills that they think are relevant.

I am very satisfied with the current set of skills, and so far i believe most people are too.

(and by the way Domenico, i know d-wade is awesome, but if you are going to mention a fast player, you should start with THE FASTEST: LEANDRINHO BARBOSA)

I would think that the speed and quickness of the player would be incorporated into the handling, driving, outside defense aspects of the player.

In addition, I don't know if it has been brought up, and I hate to use HT examples, but has there been any discussion into creating "specialties", such as quickness, vertical jump, unpredictability (like Ron Artest maybe-severe mood changes and impact on form), etc.?

That would allow the basic attributes to remain, but allow for the introduction at a later date of specialties.....

Just a thought...and see, I didn't say anything negative!!
