if your gunning for a win then let him do it and make sure his teammates doesnt help out on him.

by law of averages a guard should be around 33-45% fg% while a center has 40-60 or the most 70% fg%

with this just imagine the how the numbers falls.

if you really want to stop him, no other way but to get your best defender on him and hope he hold him down as much as he can.

what kind of offense does that team uses?

just have to play your game and hope it's enough.

He obviously has a lot of scoring power but it doesn't look like the defense is all that great. Depending on where your teams strengths are, i would probably go with a Look Inside/2-3 zone tactic to at least stop the inside scoring.

I'd play a 3-2 Zone: Increased perimeter defense at the expense of interior defense. Slow pace.

I didn't look like they have any threats inside... so...

I wouldn't play a zone defense, rather a man on man and your best defender on him.
Simply because the teams ratings on offense are pretty balanced, so they're as good at inside as at outstide scoring.

The second reason is, that this Mcgowan guy isn't that much of a 3 point shooter (from his 97 shot attempts only 18 were 3 pointers), so that excludes a 3-2 zone. Altough I didn't watch the games (to see where he shoots from) he doesn't seem to be a huge inside scorer either, because he's listed as a PG.

Bottom line, if you're really afraid of him, i'd put your best defender, with outside and inside defense on him. Look at Mcgowans recent games, and you'll see that, altough he is listed as a point guard, he plays the Small Forward position. So remember to put the defender on to the SF position.

Dude, that was a great explanation and I really appreciate it. I've been using a Full-Court Press all season and I've won all 7 games, but I REALLY want to make it far in the cup and will take any suggestions I can get on how to win.
