fans will buy the most expensive tickets they can afford.

so, if your tickets are already low enough, you will not get more fans by lowering the prices.

Now this is theory.

I think that if you lower your prices (except maybe if you are REALY low already) you will get more tickets sold.
The question is: will you end up with more money.... and that is the important question, and often it is no, and about as often it might be yes, it's all depending on the point you start from...

The trick is to try to find the right price for your tickets to make maximum profit.

Now if someone can help me there, you're very welcome! I'm struggling there myself.

There are SO many factors that influence how many fans will buy tickets for a given price, that it is a huge job to analyse the best prices.
PR guy
division
season ticket holders
win-loss (supporter survey)
ranking
opponent's ranking
to name just a few...

since you'll have hard times finding 2 teams for which these factors are exactly the same, it will be very hard to find out the optimal pricings...
