Is there a confirmed age where it is unwise to keep trying to train a player...?
I'd imagine that depends on how long you want to keep the player. However, it is pretty useless to train players over 32 because they are likely to lose the skills you train on them in a season or two.
Id like to know if its still worth trying to add some Shooting skills to a 24 & 25 yo or is this a long hard and unprofitable uphill battle?
I'm training a 23yo and a 24yo at present. But I'm training them to keep. Training is not always about profit. Winning games usually is.
Any training speed examples would be great to read.
I have yet to find any difference in the training speed of a 23yo as opposed to a 19yo.
Also are there skills that are not even worth having for certain positions?
I see a lot of Guards with Rebounding... is this uneccessary or is it a welcome bonus if they do have it?
I like well-rounded players, but that's a personal preference. Is it nessecary for my guards to have rebounding? No. But it doesn't hurt. Once we start to see players who are higher skilled, I'd imagine you wouldn't see too many SGs with sensational shot blocking, for instance.
Overall I am trying to work out if it is better to have more allrounders with av/respectable stats or some unbalanced strong/proficient with a couple of atrocious/awful stats.
I would recommend staying away from lopsided players. A player may have proficient jump shot, but if his handling and passing is atrocious, he's going to turn the ball over before he can shoot. A player with scoring skills and no defensive skills will give up many, many points to the opposition.
