This suggestion makes sense to honor a player on who they really were, not how they were when they retired.

The only problem I see with this suggestion is that it does not affect the actual gameplay of BB, and wouldn't change any of the more important "problems" that BB has.

I have mixed feelings towards your suggestion, although I'll play the role of devil's advocate:

Favorite players always performed better in your memories than they actually did. People tend to forget for example the low handling, the massive turnovers and would exaggerate a player's scoring ability.
So your memory would visualise better stats than your players had.

In this line of thinking visualising stats wouldn't be necessary, you could keep them in your memory and brag with them in the pub against a fan of another team. :-)
