This naturally evens out over time. The weak conference will lose three or four teams to relegation, and these teams will be replaced by relegees from the division above and league winners from the lower divisions. Strength of conference varies a lot from season to season.

I don't know that anybody is privy to the BBs' system for distributing relegations and promotions. I assume it's random, but if anyone has an informed guess they should post it here.

My fear for next season is that a d.2 will be demoted into my conference forcing me to fight to get out of the 8th seed when I am actually a middle of the road team for my league overall.

The problem with the imbalance is I think it creates even more imbalance in the long run. It is easier to get promoted in a weaker conference due to TIE and increased arena and marketing revenue from easy wins. This is a problem, unless the BBs' system does make sure stronger new teams go in weaker conferences.

Well lucky I don't think there was a d.2 demoted added, but looking at my league it is still extremely uneven.
