This is probably the best argument I have heard thus far. and I agree??? But for arguments sake if a coach is great why can't they take a bad team and make them great. Phil Jackson has never won a championship nor coached anywhere without superstar stud players. Did he make them great or did they make him appear great. Hard to tell.

Phil Jackson, though he has never coached a tam full of bad players, is the oil on the teams he has coached. Think about the level of egos he's had to put up with and consider how those teams have performed with him as their coach. Can you imagine the Lakers and the Bulls, two teams with such high levels of egomaniacal bastards being able to put aside their egos on the court with any other coach besides Phil? I'm not sure of his ability to take a bad team and make them better but there is no denying that without Phil Jackson on the Bulls or the Lakers that we would be talking about these two teams to this day with the level of respect we give them.

Well first of all you arent gonna win without superstar players. And I believe the reason no coach can make a bad team that much better and make them great is because there are other great coaches out there with teams that are better and so as good as that bad team gets they won't be able to compete fully with an already great team. I don't think there's really 1 or 2 coaches that are just plain "the best", and it's harder to compare one coach's skills to another, than one players skills to another. Mostly because there are more tangible factors to compare between players than coaches. For example you can compare win, championships etc. for coaches, but players have those stats as well as their in-game stats.

Lakers have yet to play anything resembling strong interior defense in these playoffs. Meanwhile the Celtics have made Howard look like a high schooler, held Rashard Lewis to 15 total points and generally stomped on the souls of the Magic.

Boston/LA is going to be a great series, maybe even historically great. The fact is the Celtics play much tougher defense than LA or any team for that matter, and that gives them an edge. I think the series will go 6 or 7 games and the Celtics will win. Although the way the C's have demolished the two best records in the NBA I wouldn't be shocked if they won in fewer games.

Youre funny that gave me quite a laugh. The Lakers have played great defense at times when they want to. We havn't played against Dwight Howard so it's less noticable but our interior defense is strong. When the Lakers really want and need to win there's no stopping them. Did you see game 5 against the Thunder? I'm not saying Thunder is nearly as good as Boston but they are a good offensive team and we just completely shut them down that game. The only weakness the Lakers have is defending the pick'n'roll, but we have been improving and I don't think it will be a problem against the Celtics because rondo doesn't shoot outside. Celtics can still run it with ray allen and paul pierce but I think we'll be fine. Gasol is going to make KG his bitch, and Artest is going to keep PP under 20 points. I say Lakers in 5 or 6.

Right, just like two years ago, the Celtics will be the Lakers' bitch. You're right, I should change my prediction. Celtics in 4 with all 20+ point wins. See, I can say silly things too. I'm going to ask you an honest question. I'm being completely serious...do you watch basketball? I'm going to sleep comfortably tonight knowing you think the Lakers will own the Celtics, seeing as Rondo has already made sure your last basketball comments look like the ramblings of a five year who's pissed because Rondo wouldn't sign his basketball.

OKC - no big men; for christ''s sake Nick Collison played crucial minutes and was on the floor at the end of the last game.
Jazz - Okur hurt; a bunch of minutes to Fesenko who's little more than a big stiff. Boozer and Millsap can't defend a chair.
Suns - What more needs to be said? They don't care about defense in the least, especially in the paint.

None of these teams brings anything close to what the Celtics do on defense. Not even close. KG isn't the monster he used to be but his legs are back and he's effective one on one and helping on penetration. Perkins is solid as long as he stays out of foul trouble. He's the reason they're beating Orlando so soundly - he can play Howard straight up and nobody else can get open. Sheed decided to show up for the playoffs. He's hitting threes, using his fouls and playing good defense. Him and KG are going to stretch the Lakers defense and open up the floor. Davis is playing great basketball and despite being short he's still grabbing rebounds, working hard on D and taking a ton of charges. That's four legitimate big men. None of the Lakers opponents so far had more than two big men worth anything. Gasol won't be able to walk through the paint like he has all playoffs. The Celtics have a complete team commitment to defense and anyone who isn't on board isn't playing. Basing the outcome of a Lakers/Celtics series on how the Lakers have played against inferior teams is pointless. The C's and Lakers match up extremely well.

For the record, Paul Pierce has scored less than 20 points in 9 out of 14 playoff games. They're doing just fine anyways.

If you have any real, intelligent reasons the Lakers will PWNZ the Celtics feel free to share. If you're going to tell me the LAKERS ARE THE SHIAZINIT and that the CELTICS SUCKZZZZ, don't bother. WHY will Gasol dominate KG? How will Derek Fisher stop Ray Allen? How will Gasol stop KG? And honestly, how will the Lakers score against the Celtics? These are legitimate questions that I would like to hear the answers to. One answer is Kobe, obviously, but what else? The Celtics have played perfect defense for six straight games with no signs of letting up. How do the Lakers do better than the two winningest teams in the NBA?

I'd just like to finish by reminding you how wrong you are about Rondo. I hope the announcers spend the rest of the playoff replacing all of their words with "Rondo Rondo Rondo Rondo Rondo Rondo Rondo." Here are some stats: 21 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 6 steals, 1 turnover. That was Rondo's line when the Celtics embarrassed the Lakers by 40 points to win the title.

Im a HUGE Celtics Fan.. as my previous posts have indicated.. I worry about the Lakers, and do predict the Lakers to pull it out, only because they will have home court and I think it will be in 7...

KG is still good enough to guard Pau, .. Probably the only Celtic Agile/Tall enough to.. and the rest of the team can guard Kobe and Lamar.. The key here is that it is Team defense we are talking about and not that they will depend on matchups.

The Lakers will win in seven if they make the extra pass and the role players can step up.. Something the Celtics have been doing all playoffs..

PS.. Why does Perkins always look like someone stole Christmas?
