Lets take an in-game example.
My last two games, same form, same line-up. The first game I played push the ball, OF was inept(low), the second game (remember: same form, same line-up, not training updates in between) I played Look Inside, OF was awful(low). How come this ain't exactly the same in both games? The same players played. My backups even played less in the 2nd game, so the OF should be higher there.

Maybe you have an explanation for this, because I don't. If only your own players affect the offensive flow than there is something very strange here, since the same players and with the same stats (no training update in between) played.

I'd like to understand the OF as well, but I do believe it isn't only your players skills who have influence on it, there has to be more.

Your PF and C don't have the same passing rating as your guards, correct? :-)

My thinking is that offensive flow is the Hattrick possession of BB. As a consequence, it depends on the tactic used (play inside? If your interior players suck at passing, your OF will drop).

I don't really know how it is calculated... (weighted) sum of passing skills of all players? Ratio between your offense and their defense and vice-versa?

Just because the same player play doesn't mean everyone brings the exact same A-Game every time. You should hope the performance fluctuates at least a little bit, otherwise why even play the games?

I think it would, considering the rating is based on a formula that weighs some positions more heavily than others. If the most important piece the pg goes wrong for one night, it's worse than if say the c had his off night.

I think that the offensive flow formula is dependent on the skills of each player, weighted by position and by minutes played, but not by their actual performances. I think the cause for the offensive flow formula varying has to due with the different amounts of playing time from game to game.

Agree... but don't forget the game shape, also important to me.

I completely agree. (I was thinking of game shape as affecting the skills of each player but didn't write it explicitly.)

Um no, you don't understand. Match ratings are calculated based on player skills. So given a certain set of skills and game shape, you will always have the same match ratings.
So, if a team played two home games in a week with the exact same level of enthusiasm (which they could do by using normal for each game) and no injuries, their match ratings would be exactly the same?
