Hum...I'm sorry, I was joking with Karamanis in the locker room about Marichal before the match.
Never tough he would took this seriously...
Apologies ;)

That's the risk when you play with your B-Team, they are quite unpredictable...
;)

big 8 swept Great 8 today.

pretty surprized that the top 2 of Great 8 didn't win there games. Tho Tool Belgium at the 6th spot is greatly exagerated.
Tuesday showdown between 2 big defensif teams ( AnA vs TBS)

big test for my side. if i can win this one on the road, without the help of Marichal, then i'm liking my odds for the PO's :D

And as i mentioned, i already played another tactic against Thomas Cook :P without Marichal, my team becomes a lot more unpredictable as i mentioned :P

Congrats to Tool for giving our guys a good old beating.
This should put their feet back on the ground, one or two of em were already thinking about championship rings.
Even though management has always had realistic ambitions.

Hope this fuels their enthousiasm for tuesday :-)

Hi,
Honestly, I'm very surprised about the winning.
My defense did such a great match, and on top of that, I did a mistake in my match order, I forgot to select Barral, my new spanish PG and played with my 36 years old Claudio "Loco" Claitan SG who's just good for the Tool Belgium Hall of Fame
Weird.
But, very useful victory indeed!

Yeah, I'm waiting for each team to have played against once, but the it's safe to say the Big 8 is really big, and the Great 8 is not so great.

the way it stands now, our number 8 drafts after your number 4. And having the more competitive conference usually is a disadvantage. Means we can lose games to eachother, where as in the other conference, there usually is one or 2 teams who are clearly above the others, and thus the weaker conference often ends up getting the HCA for the finals ( and HCA is SOOO important at that stage).

Definitely two great defensive teams there. And it's not only because of the slow pace either. You both allow less than 35% shooting percentage to your opponents. He may have a little better outside defense, although that might be because he faced easier competition in our conference, but you should probably own TBS inside, notably on the boards.
That said, I take the bet that TBS will shoot more FT's than you, and IF he makes them (big if) it will be close.

FT's are gotten true mostly bad match ups or faul happy guy's. i've got a couple of those, so i wouldn't be surprized if he got more FT's. This said, i've got a couple of players who should put some pretty bad match-ups that should play out in my advantage. I haven't got a single true C on this team. Both Baudoux and Bari are infact PF's. you could say that my entire team can attack both way's. I've been training or bought guards who got a high Is lvl, and i've bought bigs who are high on JS, HA and DR. This means that when i play outside, i don't need to overpower the opponent with my guards, cause most teams have bigs with low OD and my bigs will abuse that. And i don't need overpowering IS on my bigs, since my guards got a lot of it and they will get easy baskets that way, or they'll earn a trip to the faulline. a guard with IS 10 or more when playing LI gives you about 8 inside shots. Assuming the opposing Guard has Id 7 ( which is a high Id for most) you'll get about 4 or 5 of those 8 baskets, or you'll earn trips to the FT line.

So my ratings in offense never will be very impressive, but i don't need em to be. Most opponents just look at ratings to determine their opponents power. Do that against me and you'll be paying the price.

And as i mentioned, i already played another tactic against Thomas Cook :P without Marichal, my team becomes a lot more unpredictable as i mentioned :P
Well, you knew he was likely going to play 2-3 zone, so it wouldn't take an oracle to predict you would play an outside offense ;)

i didn't play outside because of his 2-3 zone :P if i had played LI, the result would have been the same. I checked his team and of his bigs, i only have found one who potentially had some OD. And to play a 2-3 zone, you need bigs with OD. So if i had played LI, my DR would have cut right thru his zone, forcing his bigmen protecting the rim to chose, either step forth to meet the guard, or give him a uncontested free short jumper. In the event that the C steps out, he needs OD to intercept a potential pass to the big behind him from the penetrating guard, or he needs OD to defend against the jumpshot.

So RaG, LI, Motion, LP, it wouldn't have mattered. And it's not the first time i've played Thomas Cook. it's the 5th time :P took the data of previous games into account too. Despite using the 2-3 zone pretty often, he never used it against me in the previous 4 games. So i wasn't expecting a 2-3 zone.

And likewise, if he played 3-2 zone, his bigs would have been exposed with there low OD. So unless if i've made a mistake while analysing his team ( doesn't happen often, but every now and then i do get things wrong), i would have won no matter how i played. Truth be told, i was infact expecting a 3-2 zone. His guards were horribly out of shape, so i was expecting him to balance that out. (but like stated before 3-2 zone would have seen my bigs flourish on points and boards). Having bigs flourish in an outside tactic gives extremely confusing signs to the opponents :P Anyhow, since you predicted the correct tactic, care trying to predict what i'll use against my next opponent?

In the beginning of the season, i wasn't very happy ending up here, cause there are a few teams who are well suited to exploit my weaknesses. More in this division than in the other II divisions. Suns can beat me, because he knows my team pretty well. he knows the skills of several of my players, being the former U21 coach. So it's harder to beat him ( especially if you forget to change your line up prior to the game against him... that doesn't help either... For the games against Sum, i'll need to be extra creative. that is the disadvantage of having a belgian team full of former U21 talent. if you face a former U21 coach, he'll know the skills roughly. I know the skills of Liessens, but Liessens isn't a starter anymore. So Sum has got the advantage there)).

Sebhilton say's that Caitan is just about good for his HoF. I strongly disagree. But i'll explain that at the end of the season :P no need to help an opponent publicly right now :P

And the fact that TBS and SKW are both very defensif teams, means that the games against them will be a match to find out who has the better defense. Who has covered himself from all possible angles. That will be what decides those games.

The problem with defensif teams, is that you need to find a way to deliver some offense too. And unfortunately, defensif skills cost a fortune when you look at salary. So the trick is to find players who are great defensifly, but who have the right salary efficient offensif skills so that they don't become a liability on the offense. If you can build such a team, you'll see that even when your star player goes down for a couple of weeks, you can still remain competitive and push for wins, even if the odds aren't exactly in your favor.

I find it highly ammusing how everyone focusses on Marichal. I'll just state this once:
every player in the team is important. Overlook one, and you could be in for a nasty surprize.

ps: i might sound a bitt full of myself. some might find that insulting, it isn't meant that way. i just didn't have more time to carefully chose my words today.
