So I figure I should explain as it has a couple of you wondering :P
I did throw the game E.B.W. Last year I made an early exit from the cup because I underestimated a team. This season I drew a really good team to have to face in the first round. I would like to go at least a few games deep in the cup as I could really use the extra cash no matter how small the amount. I am trying to position the team for long term success (something that has never been given much thought in the past).

So why did I throw the game?
Its all about minute management. I faced Tsunami in game 1, Delpra in game 2, and a tough Cup game for the 3rd game this week. I could have played my starters and normal rotations and probably won all 3 games but it would be at the expense of numerous stamina skill drops(which i'd then have to deal with all season or take time out of my training plan to fix) and potential injury in a slightly older than I'd like roster. I might still lose the cup game in which case I threw a game (potentially 2 depending on how the Delpra game goes) in vain. I honestly dont care though as I feel I can earn a win against Tsunami later in the season and likely stay seeded higher than them in the playoffs which is when the games truly matter. Not to mention, I figured the game would be a tad closer; expected a loss but felt it would be something other than that massive blowout.

Also, you were right, my HOF rookie didnt play. He will be playing against Delpra because he's slightly better than the other bench riders i have and wont hurt us as much in that game. I felt Delpra was the much tougher matchup and if I had to choose 1 of the first two games to win I'd rather it be against them. Note to Delpra: You'll be seeing some of my starters and I certainly hope its a much closer game. :-)

In summation: I did basically what the Spurs did recently against the Heat. I chose to rest my starters and save them for tougher opponents because I felt it'd be better for the team in the long run than a single "W" in the standings.

And lastly, I'll reiterate. There might be some odd things happen with the Hunterz this season. We are trying to reposition no only for promotion but so that we can have continued success after promotion. We've been to D.III and it was a short trip; our next trip is going to be different. The training and development of our youth and expansion are necessary components of our long term goals and a focus on the short term win/loss is detrimental. Ownership urges Hunterz fans to have faith and rest assured, The Hunterz WILL be present in the playoffs and we will be making a run.

haha fair enough. I assumed you were jsut gonna throw your cup game but your doing it the other way around. It will be quite a shame if you lose both your league games this week and cant win your cup game either

Predictions:

Sneaky Bastards @ Closet Men:
Sneaky Bastards are out an All-Star in Pascal Rubio but will win with ease nevertheless. Going to be a great boost for Sneaky Bastards as it’s a TV game. Bastards win by 19.

Seattle Tsunami @ Orlando Magic Ballers:
Seattle Tsunami love to play LI offense and with all their big men healthy and ready and the Ballers lack of talent in the PF/C positions this will be an easy victory for the Tsunami. I predict a 26 point differential.

Team Hate @ Maine Shipbuilders:
The Maine Shipbuilders have an aging roster and with their best player Constantin Tholen on the transfer list they may well be looking to get younger this season. Fans can only hope that the current situation doesn’t affect team chemistry. With that said, I believe Team Hate might actually have a slight advantage in the post but the Shipbuilders are more talented overall and Tholen is going to carry them to a victory. I expect Team Hate to bomb from 3-point land and keep it close though so I predict a 7 to 12 point differential.

Springfield Storm @ Majestic 12:
The Storm is much more talented especially in the big man department. Majestic 12 has a good roster looking forward with a balanced talent distribution and many players in the low to mid 20’s in age but Tuesday night they are going to get crushed. I predict the Storm will out rebound and thus get many more shot attempts and probably hit a higher percentage to boot. I predict Storm win by 16.

Las Vegas Villains @ Miu & Co.:
Miu & Co. will be missing Wade Osborn, the young man that will most likely become the face of their franchise in the future but his absence will have no effect on the outcome of the game. The Villains have no talent to speak of. Last week the Villains lost by blowout (to a 2nd string) and expect the same this week. Miu & Co. by 30+.

Delpra @ Hunterz:
Historically Hunterz have won 6 of 9 meetings between these teams (2 of 3 last season). With few significant changes to the Hunterz roster and Delpra losing a star, SG Hayrullah Sibar, the Hunterz should still have the advantage. However, sources are telling us that the Hunterz plan to play Jairo Ramirez the entire game against one of their conferences toughest opponents hoping the high level of competition will help him grow as a player. A tough test for the young rookie but with usual production of 2-time MVP Terrell Looby and Zguro, Madalena, and Cobian all capable of exploding any given game the results should end in the Hunterz favor. Hunterz by 11.

Kole Krushers @ No Love At All:
Both teams have a similar structure with 1 star high salary player and a bunch of low salary role players filling out the roster. Kwok Siu Chung is going to be the key to this game as he is the only real source of offensive production for the Krushers. If No Love can stop him they will definitely win. No Love has more talent on their roster and despite the fact I think Chung will have another 30+ point night No Love should walk away with a “W” for their win column. No Love by 17.

Big Dawgs @ ExplosiveBubbleWrap:
Big Dawgs has a decent talent distribution and should fare decent in the league specifically against the numerous new teams but Tuesday they face the (arguably) best team in the entire League so they should expect a loss. The only real question is what will the point differential be? Hard to say with everyone still in the tournament and lineups so questionable but I’ll throw out a guess. E.B.W by 33.

If this gets a few +1s I'll try to do predictions for each weeks games all season.

I decided to take you up on your offer. Heres my predictions. A few of them different from yours.

Sneaky Bastards @ Closet Men: The Sneaky Bastards have an amazing look inside offense that the closet men cannot compete with and has good defense to go along with it. I think the point difference will be much more than you predicted. I believe that they will win by 30-40 points.

Seattle Tsunami @ Orlando Magic Ballers: Seattle Tsunami clearly have the better team but for some reason like playing FCP which sucks and one of their solid guard players is out with an injury. Not to mention they will probably TIE. Orlando on the other hand likes to play look inside for some reason with no good big men (MOTION WOULD BE MUCH BETTER). I suggest Orlando to play Motion and 2-3 defense and i think with the home court advantage Orlando Magic Ballers win by 6.

Team Hate @ Maine Shipbuilders: I think this is the game of the week and I could see either team coming out with the win however i put the advantage with Maine in an exciting 4 point victory.

Springfield Storm @ Majestic 12: Majestic lacks an inside game and Springfield has the overall better team along with better enthusiasm so i see a win by Springfield by 15-20 points.

Las Vegas Villians @ Miu & Co.: Miu & Co wins by 30+ for obvious reasons.

Delpra @ Hunterz: Although Hunterz have gotten the best of this series so far i see the Hunterz TIE in order to try to win their Cup game and will start their rookie which will crush their outside defense. With Delpra being an amazing jump shooting and 3 point shooting team as well as having good defense, I see Delpra winning by 10-15 points.

Kole Krushers @ No Love At All: I actually agree completely with you on this one and will simply say i also believe No Love will win by 15-20 points.

Big Dawgs @ MY PLACE: I destroy them and win by 40.

So basically i agree with you on all the games except I think Orlando will beat out the Tsunami if they play better tactics and I simply cannot see Hunterz beating Delpra. No offense. I also see the Sneaky Bastards and Maine Shipbuilders winning by more points. I can't wait to see.

I love that you didnt agree completely. This will make it interesting when we reflect back on the games at least.

Looking at your take on the Tsunami v Ballers game I have to say you have a point BUT it all rests on whether or not Ballers play the correct tactics and TIE or Normal and if Tsunami stick with FCP.

No offense taken on the Delpra v Hunterz prediction. Glad you got the nerve to put it right out there. :P
I will be playing TIE and I agree that starting the rookie is going to decrease our perimeter defensive efficiency but it was also one of his highest attributes to start with which is why I was so happy with the pick. He will give up some points but I dont think it will be enough that the mismatch at this position will be greater than the mismatches that fall in my favor at other positions.
Also, whether Delpra plays TIE or normal is going to be a factor.

The point differentials is really the hardest part to predict. So many factors to consider. Will be fun to see who is the better guesser :P
