In general, I'd say train until they're capped. For your NT wannabes, you'll need to train until 27-28+. Imo, one of the better ways to make $$ would be to grab some allstar/PA/SS players and sell around 21-23.

Back to the original question, both are importand, but it depends on your opponents and tactics. SB is important to all zones.OD will defend shooting bigs, their passes, and take advantage of low HA/PA to create turnovers. Depending on your level of competition, 8-10 OD is probably good enough on C's. I'd like to see more 15+SBers, but the changes are just getting to the point that we will see them.

I think that with high OD (+10) on a C or PF, you can get a way with low ID (12/13). That way you can get some higher IS/REB/BLK and keep the salary low.


I don't know if this can be a misconception.
OD does not add ID, therefore you cannot state "3 levels of OD equals 1 ID if your guy is defending under the basket".
At least I don't understand it that way.

The defenses complicate the shot to poor shooting conditions, OD outside and ID inside of the zone.
Then, once the shot takes place, SB comes into play for a second shot barrier, sometimes resulting in a shot failed, sometimes in a block, sometimes in a foul. Or when it's in, it was just not enough.

I believe the high OD pressures the PF/C from coming in to the paint and getting the easy bucket. It can force a TO, a bad shot, or causes the PF/C to pass to another player. That's why I think 10+ OD can be a good thing for PF/C. High OD on a PF/C could well be the cheapest and deadliest way to play with great defense.


One exception is that OD seems to be mostly useless against a big man who grabs an offensive rebound and immediately tries to score.

I guess it'd make sense that the offensive rebound+scoring attempt only demands SB for the defender, no OD and probably no ID either.

yep - have been doing this for past few seasons..... keeping the RB on the lower side as well, in order to keep the salary cost-efficient where possible.

haven't worked out the right balance of ID - SB yet, am thinking im gonna go higher SB.

So how do you train in order to keep salary down? Does salary infaltion happen often? I thought everytime you move up salary goes up.

Heading on the right path so far. Are you?

If you don't want salary to go up you don't train.
Salary goes up based off the pops/skill set so it does inflate for younger players getting good training.
Salary Floor goes up based off what league you're in. D.V Has a salary floor of like 40k where as D. IV is 52k.
