In short term you can train two positions but it is usually much better to stick with three trainees and aim for one position training because after (at most) 2 seasons of one-on-one you will have to sell half of the trainees and if you try players with such training I would not expect you to get much paid so then you have kind of trained them with little gain. This assuming that you focus on 18 years old. If you buy players that been trained in one position then it might be different.

At least have I the last kind of 40 seasons always put priority on one position and still it is hard to get them fully trained in the end. To buy more than three players with a good potential and good starting values will make it very hard to go for more than three players also. If you trained for optimum income I still think that it is better to buy high potential and good starting skills as my experience is that if you train an all star potential player some seasons it will still not give you close to the same amount as someone with same skills and a superstar or better potential as they will not be starters even in the second division when they are capped.

Thank you all for the advice.
So, to recap.
I will take 3 trainees 18yo, potential MVP, all above 6'6".
I will train the outside skills first (should I start with 1on1 or OD)?
Finally, about tha trainer, should I switch to a level 5?
Thanks

Done this through - was in very similar situation.

I started this game 2.5 seasons ago.
My goal of this game have been to have 2 home grown players who can help me out to atleast D2. Don't expect fast results, it takes time.
My target is to have homegrown PF (Player 1) & SF (Player 2). My philosophy have been to train players out of position as they are young and not so good - therefore you don't have to play them outside of position when they can already add some good value for your games.

In my example, I have focused on my both players (6.8 and 7.0) outside skills first 3 seasons - then I don't have to play them at PG when they have 40+sum of big man position skills.

Season 1 (for me):
Division 4, league was mostly botted.
Trainees. Was given bunch of players, one of them was 18 year old 7.0 perennial all-star. 50 something sum of skills.
Trainers: Hired trainer level 5, no youth trainer / gym
Training: 1/2 season of 1v1 Forwards
Invested most of my funds to arena and bought couple of 10k salary older guys to get easy promotion.
Won division

Season 2:
Divison 3
Trainees: Player 1 + drafted Player 2 (kos 50... something)
Trainers: Trainer level 5 + hired youth trainer
Training: 3/4 season of 1v1 forwards and 1/4 season of JR SG (Player 1 and Player 2 only).
Invested most of my funds to arena + some for older temporary guys with 10k-15k salary to try to stay in D3, unfortunately lost drop out games but was lucky enough that I did not drop out of D3.
Stayed in D3

Season 3:
Division 3
Drafted some good players, sold them because already had 2 trainees (approximately 1m). Invested most to arena and some better players - to not risk again dropping out of D3.
Trainees: Player 1+ Player 2
Training: 2/4 season of 1v1 forwards + 2/4 season Pressure at PG
Will not drop out of D3 this time.

Next I will focus on OD, until it is 10-11 for player 2 and then JS until it is 11 for Player 1. Will train both players same time. Then I will jump to inside skills and stay there until Player 1 is ready - will see what direction I will continue my journey on Player 2 - his potential will hit a lot later.

Player 2: http://lien.buzzer-manager.com/6ocelqda477dpmj67e56un5mez...

Couple of things which I suggest:
Trainees: Min pot Superstar, 18 YO.
Max number of trainees: TWO. You can try to have 4-5 in the first couple of seasons (only for making of profit buying-selling) when you train 1v1 forwards - but in the end you will have to sell all the rest and keep only 2.
Trainers: Level 5 + Level 4 youth trainer
First two seasons - only 1v1 Forwards (until 12-13 or even more), then all other upper skills until at desired levels. Of course you will become bored in the meantime, then train JR or JS temporarily.
3rd season - focus on other outside skills.
4th season - focus on other outside skills + inside skills

Contact again when Season 4 is coming for you.

If you're going for outside, always start with 1on1 forwards. Jack em to 12 then go for OD.

I am confused, so you finally settled on the fact that you will get 3 trainees next season with mvp potential or higher. MVP's with good starting skills are at least 500k+ each. Its the 55 tsp below ones that are usually cheaper. I am assuming you will stick to single position training. But you also ask if you should train 1on1 first which is really 2 position training. So you dont mind giving the other training minutes to your other players? Training plans should be dependent on the skill set of the rookies you get. Which is still next season if I understand you correctly. Safest trainer level is 5 advanced. It's not too expensive to acquire and reasonable to pay weekly even for a div 4 team. If you train the players well and get consistent 48 minutes a week avoid stamina and ft training they will probably make your country's u21 team if they are defense oriented.

Everybody has given his 2 cents, best advise I can give is to look for good trainees first then formulate a training plan on the skills you want to develop. Try consulting your national coaches by copy pasting their skill set next season. Many factors are critical to training efficiently, height will help you in inside skills but will also penalize you for OD.
