I'd say it's got a lot to do with the player salaries floor. In this div, the floor is roughly 250k which means that even if your players only total 120k in salaries, you'll still have to pay 250k. So you might as well have a few half decent players instead of paying for an entire team full of bums.

I think you answered your own question through your observation.

yeah possibly, but at the same time, in my previous season. I did really well by having a balanced team but this season, i'm being bullied so i was curious to see people who have spent longer in the game than i, what their thoughts were from experience. considering the stats and the wage that it demands, it would seem that the jump to the top tier of a player isn't worth such a dramatic increase but then again, i'm being bullied every game. my guys are still a bit off but if they were maybe 2-3 main stats down with a balanced team, i figure I would be seeing more positive results ...

You would have easily won last night's game if your players gameshape was good. But it seems you've been running your players into the ground with 75-85 mins per week. You need to reduce those weekly minutes to around 60-70 mins. Your best players are currently 'average' (level 6) when you should have them at 'strong' (level 8) or 'proficient' (level 9).

In other words, your better players are now tired and less effective because you've played them too many minutes.

Solid advice. It goes back to not trying to win every game. Player management is important.

usually I'm pretty good with balancing game time and keeping game shape to a minimum 7-8 but within this league, when I have been losing by a bit, I was worried my supporters would start declining etc and I would struggle to earn money which would not help. But even losing all games, it seems that is not a factor for me atm.
I ended up playing my weaker side for big minutes this game passed and I won so I'll take the advice you've given me and use it to keep balance and prioritize certain games to win and some to let be. Thank you for the advice! muchly appreciated!!!

Yeah I have never worried about the fans. I have tweaked the prices a few times but usually it is consistent.

I'm not worrying about prices too much but in the previous season and in rel 3, my attendance would change and alter but now it's not. it's like the game knows i suck at this level and is helping me out :P

Welp, you've already secured last placed in this division so you need to start prepping for your relegation to div 3. Since you'll probably be playing half your games against computer managed teams, now is the time to get serious with training and save as much money as you can. Avoid quick fix strategies such as depleting whatever little money you have to add a few half decent players (or one really good one) and hoping it is enough to stave off relegations as it gives you very little chance to further improve your team.

The most sustainable way to be a decent team long-term is to spend a couple seasons training 4+ players (I'd recommend training PF/C spots as it's less intricate than training guards) and you really only need to rely on your bigs to be good at at least 2 of 3 things (inside scoring, rebounding, inside defence). So you can take pretty much any young player and train them up to be a good dependable starting level type player on a quality div2 team within probably 6 months as long as their potential isn't too low and you've got a decent trainer (level 6 would be preferred but level 5 is acceptable if that's all you can afford).

If you spend your next 2 seasons just training a team that is is costing you not much more than the player salaries floor and if you're not paying out of your ass for your trainer, you should be able to store a decent amount of cash while having developed a few good players from your training. And you can either keep all your trained guys and add a couple of good guards from the transfer list to compliment them with the money you saved or you can sell one or two to help with funding some good guards.

P.s. Thank you for your detailed response, i really appreciate it as I would much prefer a game I can be involved in and talk to people and challenge them while having fun!
I figured as much ... well last Div 3 league there was 4 teams operated by real people and the other 12 were bots. Doesn't make for much competition.
I was pretty serious with training in Div 3 to prepare for Div 2 but my trainer was clearly too low and my players far inferior. I was trying to train my guys in their key areas as I know sups do build along the way but it would seem I am way off with my current line up. Is it worth sticking with guys they are in their young to mid 20's (most around 23-27) with key attributes 10 and above and sups alright or should they really be young 20's with those stats to be any chance?
As saving money, should I be targeting high potential young players and build through training? I mean adding in a trainer level 5 or above either requires a bit of money to buy or a high enough income level to accommodate his salary and players. Additionally, what about the other staff? Do they contribute to the team enough for them to matter or is this level of competition too low for it to contribute enough?
Should I also tank next season to ensure I don't get put into Div 2 again or is it more about just getting the minutes for the training that's important?
