I haven't read the whole thread, but I also just want to say
STOP TANKING

A suggestion is to relate arena attendance not only to results but also ratings. If a team loses this way its home games (it's the Italian Serie A) (46120419), and does it several times in a row, its fan should be really pissed and not show up the next game, despite the promotion bonus!

The game was made to let the manager make the decisions. Not to be penalized for doing somthing other owners don't like. I just tanked last season and it killed my bottom line with loss of attendance. At the end if that's the strategy they want to use because they think it will help them long term then let them use it. Who are you to tell them otherwise. You should be happy that they are giving you wins.

I'm not happy to be the guys in the bottom league who received a tanker who have 10 times what I got. I know that my next three months will be a waste without any chance to promote.

The game was made a certain way, it's not a reason to say it has to stay as it is, especially if the BBs and not a random guy do not like that.

I'm not even religious, but Amen to that!!!

Phew... I just read through the entire thread and there are a couple of things that I have read that I like.

First: I want something to be done, because I've been a "victim" of Tankers. I don't blame them, the game allows them to use this strategy. Last season was a bit funny where one tanker who dropped from Div.1 into my league, was stopped by another tanker who came up from Div.III into my league. The III guy got promoted. Funny. And it shows that sometimes tankers need a long term strategy as well.

My definition of tanking :
Intentionally earning a lot of money (by any means) to be able to come back in much better shape next season.

My opinion on why this is bad :
It stops other teams (who do not tank) from being promoted or from staying in their Division

How to detect tanking teams:
Through the Fans. A team that tanks will have Fan repercussions. They will not show up anymore, no matter how low ticket prices have been set. They will not buy merchandise. They will not buy Season tickets.
We measure our fans through the Fan Survey. The Fan Survey currently does not stop tankers and it also does not (in my opinion) correctly represent the fans feelings.

Maybe we should open up a new Thread in the "Suggestions" Forum where we can debate how to improve the Fan Survey, while we continue discussing the great Tank Debate in this thread.

How to punish tanking teams:
I believe the fans will punish the tanking teams, but I also believe the comssioner will want to punish a tanking team because it takes away the commercial value of the whole league. So determining a Fine for a tanking team is fine with me (pun intended).
Let the GM's determine when to fine and what to fine. That'll be a good addition to their roles.
Maybe another thread in the suggestion Forum: "Fines for tanking"

There's a simple solution to stop people forfeiting on purpose: if you forfeit a game you receive no training for that week.

+ if yu're the home team that forfeits, no $$$ from attendence or slash it by 75%. And for next game at home they slash it by 40%. Cause the last forfeit will affect them. Also if they're a road team that forfeits, I think the home team that did by the rules should earn an extra 25% $$$ cause the fans wanted to see a game, not some entertainment on the court, nor fans don't want to play like a lucky fan.

Some forfeits might be necessary, though. But then I guess the fans don't care if it's necessary. They shouldn't anyway.

How can a forfeit ever be necessary?

Economy issues, maybe?

But, you're right, I'd want my money back if a team forfeited.

How do you face the day? When your a "Victim" of tanking. Soft. The only victim's in tanking, are when the toilet team visits your arena near the end of the season.

You want to punish tanking, here's an idea, remove their promotion bonuses for 2 seasons. But lets stop calling nontankers victims.

"Victims" might be a bit intense but nontankers are still disadvantaged.

yeah they get give me victories, which helps them bring in more revenue.

I'm tell you, the lot of you need to put your man pants on, and grow up. IF they want to tank, so be it. Your not their mother, quit trying to tell people how to play the game, the way they want to play it.
