sorry, my mistake. never thought that this is based only on regular season.

so the suggestion should be, change "I am pleased with the team's performance this season" to "I am pleased with the team's performance in regular season this season"

Am I really in the minority in thinking that Rycka has a good point here?

If the fan survey is not a good reflection of what your fans think of your performance, then why bother having a fan survey at all? The only real reason to even have a fan survey is for managers to have some sort of clue how their fans react to wins and losses. If the FS doesn't do this, BB should just scrap the FS altogether and be done with it.

Here are three great posts in a row about how shitty the FS is: (158671.43)

Mmm... Should we try to better understand the FS or should we have it changed because we don't understand it ? I don't know.

Who says it is not a good reflection of what the fans think ? And what reason for ?
Have you noticed you rarely see questions about the overall response to the FS ? It seems we completely overlook it. Questions are always about the second and the 2 last statements for some reason. We seem to believe if we have a low ball-rating in one of the statements, our attendance will crash down. Simply looking at the attendances shows that it's a wrong conception.
There is too much importance given to the survey, all the information can be found somewhere else. PR-managers are using it as an alibi to steal a better salary from you. Don't listen to their sweet talk.

Those messages were posted on the 10/10/2010 after the 1st game of the season, it's possible the survey is tweaked after the first game because of the merchandising revenues of the first monday. I remember something was changed because teams playing their first game away were at a disadvantage. It's a possible reason, I don't know for sure. Honestly, I don't look much at the survey anymore. I pop up on the page from time to time just to show my PR that I am keeping an eye on them. But it's useful in the beginning when you try to link the survey and the changes in attendance. Once you get a 'feeling' for the changes in attendance, you don't need the survey anymore.

I really enjoyed your post, so the +1 is from me.

Perhaps it's because there are three lines of utter garbage:

The team played well in our last league game
The team played well the last time they were on TV
The team played well in our last game against [rival name], our hated rival

The only options on these seem to be .5*, 1*, 4.5*, and 5*. In ten seasons or so of the FS, I don't think I've ever seen a 2* or 3* rating for any of these statements. Has anyone else that would like to share?

Those messages were posted on the 10/10/2010 after the 1st game of the season, it's possible the survey is tweaked after the first game because of the merchandising revenues of the first monday.

Sure, but why would the survey be worse than expected? Shouldn't it be tweaked to be better?

So you agree, the FS can be scrapped. That's two votes then. ;)

I don't want to sound like I am defending the fan survey. The feature is passable. Yes, you can have my vote, it can be scrapped. But it was never meant to be very special, it adds some flavor and there is some usefulness in it. I don't know why it receives so much flak, it's probably sometimes confusing, I agree.

Well, we don't know for sure if it's tweaked and how. I wouldn't generalize from the first survey of the season anyways. Worse than expected, it's hard to discuss it without actual numbers.

The reasning in this thread seams to be based on the same kind of assumptions as the "omg how could I loose this game threads".

Just as the game results are not a perfect reflection of the team and matchup ratings, the fan survey is not a perfect reflection of your supporters mood. Instead both are (highly) correlated with result and mood respectivelly*. However as it is just a matter of correlation and not equality the result and mood might vary from what you could expect. Nevertheless both will be pretty accurate over time, and also a good indication for a particular game/survey.

By analysing several games or surveys you can get a better understanding for the expected outcome or crowd for a particular game, but they will never give an exact answer.

---
* For the fan survey the randomness is in the survey itself while for the match ratings the randomness is in the match results, but the principle is the same.

I don't get where the problem is and how it is related to the FS.
WF bleachers ticket price is 10$.
CB bleachers ticket price is 19$.
The games were recently played and there was no price changes since.
Top leagues have a good amount of 3rd rate team games. It doesn't bother the fans, there is no measurement for that but there should be one, is this the idea ? I'd like it.

surveys always gives random stuff but i have

i have 1/2 a ball now and always for

I am familiar with the star players, and am not afraid that they will be transferred

yet i haven't sold a star player for ages although will be this week hopefully i will when i land a $10 million draftee

in fact over the last 2 months i have sold a total of 4 players, 2 of whom were "rented" for one match - 1 for a tough cup game and 1 to fill in for an injured player and both were sold again within 4 days, 1 of whom was a deep deep reserve pf so hardly a star and the closest was my backup but occasional starter while the cup was on and i had 3 games a week but he was sold 2/23/2011 hardly recent news, that is 4 sales in 2 months, none stars and i get 1/2 a ball!

my starting pg and sg are the same as they were in season 10, how much more familiar do my fans need to get?

Also like to point out that its not just selling the players. Simply transfer listing them (they don't have to be sold) is enough to cause that rating to go down as fans are afraid their star will be sold.

Lets face it, no fan would want to risk buying merchandise of a player that is no longer going to be part of the team next week!
