he other thing is that not only the media invest heavily in scouting also the NBA teams do, and surely didN't look on espn or draft express report who to pick,


Some teams really should have.

I think the problem with some NBA managers and scouts is that they think they can see "hidden" potential and skills that no-one else can see and that they are smarter than everyone else. But they are wrong.
