A pretty good 18 year old PF is likely up for sale soon.

Contact manager habs19 (25101) if you're interested in a PF trainee who's been getting OD so far this season.

Canada with the narrow 89-85 win today over Estonia. (40642)

When I prepared a lineup and GDP for LI and saw they didn't (but at least went PTB) I was quite worried for a loss here. I went with a little less OD in places for higher ID and used both GDP guesses.

The team ratings, PP100, and player ratings all show a loss here, so we must be thankful for this result from the GE.

We did take 20 less shots and make 1 more, and again the free throw line was key. We were 19/32 while they were 13/20. Also our 19 assists to their 12 stand out to me, indicated we won the tactical game.

20 year old Beiguo is making quite the name for himself at this season's worlds, coming away with another game MVP award. 27 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists making up for the 6 turnovers he accumulated.

Kudos as well to 2 other players this game.

Metzger (called up this week), who I gave the PG start to this week. Serviceable outing for him with 6/8 shooting, 6 assists, and a great defensive effort in holding the other PG to 4/18 shooting and 4 assists.

Edwards, again getting work done despite less than star skills, but a usable skillset able to be used at different positions. This time at SF shooting nearly 50% and bringing down 8 boards while holding his counterpart to 3/14 shooting.

Finally, it cannot go without mentioning the effort our bench put in. This is a testament to our team depth while lacking outright superstar players this season. Our bench, with minutes of 7, 8, 9, 12, 9 brought forth +/- values of +3, +7, +9, +14, and +12. We would not have won the game if we didn't outplay their bench so fantastically.

So, co-game MVPs to all our 2nd unit: McNamara, McEntee, Rudolph, Beauchamp (called up this week), Janiga.

With wins over Estonia and Ukraine (who I perceived to be our competition to get 4th in the group), this might already put us into the next round. Unlike last worlds, allowing us to carry a win into the next round.

With a game vs Senegal next week, we can really do ourselves a favor with another win. Or do we go TIE to save enthusiasm for next round, but risk the dreaded TIE vs CRU loss? Senegal has TIE'd every game and might be targeting Canada to use all that saved up effort on.

We'll see...

Well, you can look at my managerial record and probably guess that I would go all in (TIE) :D
It didnt end well, but for a second there was a chance that we would get to the Worlds semis. That tournament is my biggest regret in the game to this date :/
Had tsp roughly 20 less on each position than most teams and could have medaled with bit more luck

Our 2 biggest bigs continue with GS 7. One is overplayed every week, one is underplayed every week.
Eventually this is going to bite us.

There's bad news and then there's bad news.

1) TIE vs CRU
2) Edwards injured.
3) 14 TOs and down 9 at half.
4) Estonia tied with Spain at half.
5) Ukraine up at half vs Taiwan.

Ummm.....

edit: Spain and Taiwan won comfortably so it's all good.

If one or both of the other games had different results, things would have gotten a little dicey next Monday.

As it stands, unless Senegal can beat Spain and pass us in PD, we are into the next round (with a good amount of enthusiasm saved up).

Tried a different lineup with 2 SGs, one at center. Kind of a patient type lineup, but played PTB to see what would happen. With no true C on the court in our PG-SG-SF-PF-SG and their crunch, we got killed down low on the boards.

Give me our 2 centers in GS 8 or 9, and I put them as PF and C, and I don't see Senegal scoring more than 75 this game.

Tough to find a game MVP here, but how about Curtin. 5/10 shooting for 12 points, 12 rebounds after coming into the game 3 minutes in with the early injury to Edwards.

Next up is Taiwan, who narrowly beat us in a scrimmage and surprised Spain earlier in the round. They are undefeated as of yet!

I love how we lose an inconsequential game and approval rating goes down 3% (1 new voter was displeased)

Back to back group 2 appearances at worlds not enough for some. :?

Don't pay it any mind, it may not even have been about that game at all but just when someone found the poll exists.

Could have been 22-5 after 1 but 2 offensive rebounds and layups have it 22-9 after 1. Come chat and watch Canada try to hand Taiwan it's first loss at world's.

game > (40647)

edit: After a terrible 2nd quarter we are up 2. You know, one of those quarters where rebounds are going off your hands, the opponents are fouled every possession, bigs are putting up jump shots and guards are driving in and getting blocked, etc!

edit: Another awful quarter. Down 6. Nothing doing on offense and too many shots in the paint under their towering D. Tried to avoid these inside shots...

edit: Got within 1 but lose by 8. Not having a true center killed us here. Rez GS7 and Jan GS6 this week unacceptable. Most definitely could have won this one.

Results elsewhere are fine, and we are off to the second round, but it would have been real nice to carry over another win.
