Many teams do not really care about winning or losing their cup game because while still in the cup it is difficult to manage minutes for training.

Bulls and WFU both have thrown 2-3 games during their cup run. Bulls have already won 3 cup championships too.

I agree with brianjames' point. You also must consider that there is a random element in the cup.

Every team with a run that long is bound to have a few home and a few away games. Given the absolute predominance of HCA at the high-levels, the question is who you get in your away games. Some top teams (like KDB himself) were eliminated on away draws to other top teams.

The case was Ice Storm who went out in one of the first rounds.

Heh. Thank you for writing "one of the first rounds" instead of "the first round." :)

To be honest, it hasn't affected my season as badly as I thought it would have. Sure, I could use the extra money, especially from later rounds, but managing minutes has been a piece of cake.

I just noticed that two middle of road teams (by win-loss records) within the NBBA are in the finals of the USA Tournament this season. Any comments?

My team, the Bulls, were focused on winning the Cup this season in an effort to be in the B3 next season. I had a couple of unlikely league losses early in the season which put me out of the #1 seed race, which is really the only way any of us can hope to beat KDB in the playoffs.

As brianjames said, I threw 3 league games. Had I focused on those, I would probably be in 3rd place instead of 4th fighting for my playoff lives. I also had two long 2 week injuries to my starting PG (best guard in the NBBA) and my starting Center. That definitely hurt.

Now I'm in the Cup final without my starting PF who is injured. So if I lose the Cup Final and lose my final league game this season will have been a total waste.
