Sleet and Rambo's training guidelines are a great base to start with. I feel every season we need to reassess what we have and make the guidelines from there. As for extending the guidelines though I think a good thing to do is set the goal high for everyone. By setting the goal high, I feel it will bring out the best in everyone. Where the guidelines are set now it seems everyone reaches the minimum on some categories and I feel we need to go beyond the minimum and provide multiple players that are considered the "best" at the U21 level.

I think as I said earlier about training how we scout, which just recently actually happened, by having the scouts specialize in certain positions will help this. It will provide the best advice for the best players which can lead to even better players on the U21 team.

Well I'm always leaning TIE so that example probably would never happen since it wouldn't be an issue.
Now if they tell me all to normal and I'm leaning TIE, I'd then look at the scenarios and look at the magnitude of the game. If the scenarios say that we can't afford to lose the game otherwise we'll be too far behind to catch up, I will most definitely listen to Wozz, Coco, and Rambo, but if they want Normal and I see that we are still in decent position even if we do lose, then I'm going to listen to me and TIE.

Enthusiasm is just too critical at the NT level, you have to have a TIE-first mindset, and then proceed from there

Ok if I lose this election by 1 vote, it will be the Karma gods telling me that I should never listen to other people. Until then, thanks for your input, now please accept and move on.

Much like Sleet and Rambo's training guidelines, what do the candidates feel is something they'll do to further extend a clear cut plan for U21 player development and beyond?

We defiantly need to make it clear that these are only guidelines. We need to tell people that unique players are welcome and can even be preferred in some situations. This will give us more a bigger variety of styles, not just one or two tactics that the team will be playing for a given season. Also we need to tell the players who are training our future stars, that training does not stop after U21. I see a lot of players being sold after they turn 22 years old. It is best that the person who has trained the player that far continue to train the player unless they cannot. This is because, they know the player best and of course, had success with training the player and knows how to train that player.

Thanks Oriole.

I'm a bit at a loss as to who to vote for still. All three guys have been active and involved on the offsite and have pretty similar ideas. A change from last season's NT election in which there was a clear choice of differing styles and experience. Honestly, I figure USA can't go far wrong with any of the three.

Basically what I'm saying is, let the cash bribes begin!

Group hug!

You don't quite seem to understand what oriolekid is saying. He's still going to have the final decision for everything if he is elected, but in the offsite forum we discuss tactics for every game, and we are open to everyone's opinion. He's not letting other people make the hard decisions for him, he's letting them give their opinion on the hard decisions. Every NT/U21 manager has done this. Even Rambo, who just won a world championship.

The 3 of you have been very involved in the offsite fourm in the discussion boards, and on the USA chat as well. Give a couple of examples where you had interaction with the community and/or a current NT coach (current at the time, not just with Rambo or myself) where you felt your input was greatly valued, and even bonded you to the community in some way. Also, cite an example or two where your input caused some friction or you you kind of felt alone in your opinion.

. . . . . Unless you post something dumb, I think everyone's opinion is "greatly valued."

That certainly won't change. We could use a lot more posting about tactics. I've been

active on the offsite for awhile, and at no point did I ever say to myself, "Wow, I feel

bonded to the community," but I've certainly felt more and more comfortable each

week. I guess an example would be season 16 worlds for the NT. About 15 minutes

before the lineups were locked against Uruguay, I posted that we should start Logsdon

in 9GS instead of blanking PG-SF because I thought he should play more minutes than

the 26 or so the GE would play him. We won that game in overtime by 2, and Logsdon

did really well. Seemed like a good suggestion, but who knows what happens if we

blank PG-SF. Maybe the same result, maybe even better. I don't think anyone really

cares who made the suggestion.

. . . . . I also don't think anyone's input "causes friction." The U21 coach or NT coach

may disagree with a suggestion, but I haven't really seen a full-fledged argument

(save a week ago when Owens was sold). The most friction I had with Rambo

last season was for the Championship game, about an hour before the game on chat:

Me: "Rambo, I really don't like starting B-Rod in this game. I think we'll lose

the SF matchup badly. We should start Brown, Carlson, Goddard.." (I tried everyone..)

Rambo: "Not gonna happen..."

Me: "Ok."

. . . . . Would my suggestion have worked? Maybe, who knows. We went with what

Rambo wanted, and we won Worlds, so our discussion was irrelevant.
