Wait, does that mean that you can tell straight away if anyone is injured in the entire game by trying to set the next line-up?

Yes. If he is in red for the next game, he is out. There is no way to know the length until the end of the current game and the roster is updated.

Follow-Up Question: BFiddy

For some reason, I am thinking that the checking needs to be done during the first half...but I may be confusing this with cup game payout. Do future injuries still show up in "Set Your Lineup" during the second half of the game, after the home/cup money disappears?
