players are still being listed above what their skills are worth...

Of course players will be listed above what they are worth. That does not mean that they will sell for that price, though. My thoughts are more about sell prices.

I have noticed what you are talking about but this is not a new thing. Many people will continue to list their players for high prices, even after a market correction. They may not get the results that they want or they may catch an unsuspecting buyer who is not patient. That is the nature of the market.

On the other hand, if you watch the market and you consistently see a player with x skills sell for x dollars, then I would say that the player was not "listed above his worth".

So how do you know if the market has turned? One way is to watch the estimated transfer prices of your players. Not 100% accurate but if you see a drop on all your players (as I have) it points you in a certain direction. The other method is to shop the transfer market every day.

In any case, prices have dropped, at least for high level players. Whether this is just a blip because of the end of the season, I have no idea. I guess we will find out soon.

If u want keep this game fun for everyone not just for those started earlier you cant let the economy go to that dimensions.. It is simple. Manager fluctuation is natural so if you loose couple veteran players you need to replace the gap with the rookies, but if rookie see it d take him 20 seasons to get to the top he wont keep playin becose he has almost no motivation and if the game itself goes down in numbers its done.

what makes you say inside monsters will start to retire?

I do not think they will retire (especially if they are on an NT, it will be impossible), their transfer prices will simply drop to close to 0 and they will bounce around to a different team every 2-3 weeks.

Also, I would suggest not exagerrating the 1 million price tag too much. Let's say that next season such a player does exist. He will almost certainly be on an NT somewhere. So he will give his team a merch bonus for that. Plus, if he is playing in his home country, there is another merch bonus. Finally, if he is still on the team that drafted him, another merch bonus.

I do not have a fantastic feel as to how much these merch bonuses amount to, but I can tell you that they are proportional to salary. So a player with a 1 million salary could net somewhere between $100K-400K in merch revenue.

Well, question is if they will remain in NTs if they change owner very often and so their game shape will suffer. I didnt say they dissapear from one day to another.

You think so? Haven't noticed such a thing. I would estimate they would net 10-20k in mechandise.
)

My own experience with a player that I drafted and then played for Canada's NT was an impact between 5-20K. And this is with a player who only had a 40K salary. So if indeed these effects are proportional to salary (as the rules seem to indicate), I stand by those numbers.

What evidence do I have of this? I have always noticed that my merch revenue has been consistently higher than the average in my series, in spite of having lower salaries overall and finishing near the middle of the pack the last two seasons. Also, after I sold Wendon, I had an immediate drop of 13.5K in merchandise, in spite of the fact that I won my previous home game and had virtually no change in my fan survey.

Of course, having never owner a 1 million salary player, I cannot say definitively what the impact would be.

i have sold Serbian NT player with 180k salary and my merch drop was about 10k.. So that is pretty much the price.

the merch revenue is the same of the other weeks, the other incomes drops ;D

I remember you from the other thread where you undervalue the merch impact of things like player from your country and NT players. I sold a player like that last week, I can tell you that the effect is quite noticeable.

Sorry,I think you overvalue very very very much the impact of the merchanidising in the economy of a team.If you want to have an increase in the merchandising of 10k you have to afford a salary four or five times higher than increased merchandising incomes, and you not consider the price paid for the player

And a team who doesn't make any move on the market, surely has the same merch revenue of the other weeks, while if is eliminated from the playoffs, the other incomes drops
