Of the players I paid for, my team cost $22.5m, including the two draftees I sold then bought back (net spend).

With the market as it is for 26 year olds, I think I'll be taking a hefty hit on that whenever they are sold. But the balance sheet would look a bit healthier!

Actually, just doing a quick bit of adding up, I think $18-$19m is what I'd raise in a well-timed fire sale. Bleurgh.

18 to 19 million in todays market would buy you a ridiculously good team. Get 5 top notch starters. 2 backups. Train gameshape every week. And you can't lose.

LOL, you can't win in the EBBL with seven players. I like my roster thanks - apart from the star centre being injured :-S

Sorry, I didn't realise you had such great experience of the league I play in. You may be able to win easy in some leagues at some tiers with 7 players - but I beg to differ that it's possible in the EBBL.

You can definitely win with 7 players.

Possibly you can win in your league, but not in the first div. At least 20M is not enough to make a fantastic team starting with 0 players in the squad.

How many players do you think you need to win, if not 7? And just out of curiousity, why don't you think you could win with 7?

I think he is saying he cant win with 7 is because of GS. With only 7 players they will have to play lots of mins in a week. You COULD win early on in the season but once players get in great GS its gonna be hard.

You can maintain strong gameshape with 7 players if you learn how to do it right and train gameshape each week. And you will have significantly stronger starters because you have higher salary cap because you have less players.

Having just 7 players is effectively stating to your rivals you have no intention of winning or even competing in the cup.

With salaries dropping and 2 of your 9/10 players potentially being quality 50-70k SF's, there is no reason why you can't build a monster 9-10man roster and compete across all fronts.
