Matchday #5 7/17/2010
Big 8
Champaign @ Marietta Magic was a test of strength for Sean Ryan and Mario Mannu and it was not an easy one. The big men for Champaign out rebounded Magic, and Pyatetskiy looked to be the victor stats wise, but the final score revieled that Magic's boys passed their test. Marietta 95-92. The 7,200 fans at The Cauldron went insane when the clock ran out and charged onto the court, making it impossible to interview any players. The Magic fans are extremely happy with management and believe this is finally their season.
E.C. High-Flyers @ Tachenko was over before it started. Flyers decided to just play the subs and take it easy. Tachenko 107-59. Mayagoitia commented after the game, "Well that was an easy way to improve to 5 and 0."
TDX Dutchemn @ Cleveland Crazys was a three point battle royale. The Crazys put more effort in the match and wings Barry and German were excellent. Hutson and Pugh of the Dutchmen scored from all over to try and keep their team in the game, but poor shooting by their teammates held them back. Crazys 110-98. German was asked about Barry's scoring abilities and said, "Yeah man Barry can shoot, he's a natural sg so you got to watch out for him or he'll punish you."
San Diego Crusaders @ Red Terrors was very one-sided. Crusaders were tired all game as they had just one suitable sub. So despite having 4 players in double digits they couldnt keep close to Terrors 5 players in double digits and additional scoring from 5 players. Terrors 114-87. Jan Jansson was asked about his playing time and responded, "Well, we were winning and we clearly didn't need me to go in. It was a good win."
Great 8
Prov City Investors @ The Illusion was another thrown game and another team easily improving to 5-0. Illusion 109-28.
1Derz Bangerz @ Chicago Goats was a great game that the fans at home were able to watch on t.v. The Goats big men were impressive on both ends, and even more impressive was how Bangerz forward Beavers was able to get close to a triple double against them. Stame found himself open outside a lot against the 2-3 zone of the Goats and went 5-5 from beyond the arc. The score was close throughout the match, but a poor start to the 4th had Bangerz trailing untill a mad run at the end tied it up with one possession left for the Goats. Backup center Mohr gave the home fans something to scream about with a BUZZER BEATING DUNK to win the game. Goats 100-98.
Indiana Gavno @ No Potential marks the return of Gavno to competitiveness. New forward Leonardo Spanò is looking to fill Clay Chow's massive shoes, and made a case that he can do it. Gavno 101-95. Jesse Mccartney was asked his opninion on Gavno's new front court and replied, "Well I never had a chance to play against Chow and Garnier, but these guys were good, beatable, but good."
Armageddons @ Roxas City Red Claws came down to wire, and the freethrow shooting ability of Armageddons was the key to victory. Armageddons 82-79. Foul trouple for Oconnell and Warfel limited their playing time, but they were able to finish the game. Oconnell was questioned on how he is going to try to get better at staying out of foul trouble and responded, "I'm not doing anything wrong, these referees just hate me or something." The commissioner of the league plans on fining Oconnell a weeks pay for his comments about the referees.
