Hi,

i didnt read the whole thread but i like the idea to change something to make tanking useless..

in my eyes its all about the crappy fan survey..thats my thougts ( only brainstorming for all that smart asses like Wolph etc pp )

concept:

-> It gives points for victories and deduction for defeats
-> With these points u fill a virtual glass / pipe or whatever -> the more filled the more attendance
-> there r soft and hard league caps in that tube for the 100 seasons in one league dudes
-> New teams do not start at zero, they achievin a opening fan bonus and startin at the top of the leagues hard cap
-> Points for the victory will depend on the country's ranking of the opponent---> victory against a team in the same ranking environment( (vulnerability in the concept - maybe there are better solutions) + - 50 rank places ) normally 1 point---> victory against a team which is 250 national ranking above= 2 points , and everything above it is 4 points (advantage: Cup success from lower league teams would be upgraded)
-> For losses the same + there r extra penalties if u loosin with more than 50 points difference from 1, and 2(or more) if u loosing with 80 or 100 points
-> Promoting Teams / League champion / Cup champions get points and no more invisible bonus points to fill the tube (advantage:serial champions that r on the top of the tube didnt get that champion attendance bonus every season and its easier for other league teams to catch them
-> tank teams would be relatively quick fall into that tube to a point there the attendance r on a leauge 7 level
-> the tube is allways visible to the user and he can view at any time where he stands in the Fan Popularity

btw: you could spin it even further, making the whole fan Dingbums garbage void-> You buy a national player -> points-/ Victory Series -> points / Rival Win / TV game victory -> points / PR Manager -> PR 3 is the output value 1 -> 2 only PR 0.9 -> 1.1 etc PR 4 pp./ win after beeing 20 points down with ur team after 3rd quarter -> points / Allstar nominiee-->points and and and

sorry for that half baked english

Cheers

Will

I don't agree with this at all. People tank, it's what they do. So what? We're supposed to punish the Charlotte Bobcats now? For having a crappy team and having top picks in the draft? NO! we don't. Why? Because that's absurd.

Plus some uneven conferences make some of the leagues really hard to play in. We have all seen this, in one conference 10 wins gets you to the playoffs, in the other, 10 wins grants you relegation. So in that case, why not tank? Why struggle in a conference that is way too tough to play in, when you can tank, and "restart". It seems only fair. Every player in this game has his/her own strategy and that's the fun of it. If tanking is soooo good, why don't you guys all tank? It seems like the way to go

Don't be confused between "not doing so well" and tanking.

If the Bobcats brought in 5 foot guys who could barely dribble, or shoot, do you think the fans would still go to the arena? Yup, some would, but not many.

If you're going to use realism (i.e. NBA teams) then be realistic.

Comparing this game to NBA is really a bad example. In NBA you have constant number of teams and limited amount of players. Bobcats can't become competitive because there's no good players available, they have no assets for a trade, and a bad reputation doesn't help either. If they want to improve, they have to tank and pray for luck in draft.

In BB the situation is totally different, there's plenty of players available, you can buy a stud or a rookie for a training at any time.

So in short:
- the Bobcats want to compete, but they can't -> so they tank
- in BB some managers don't want to compete, but can -> and yet they tank

Just to clarify, its not just this season's Bobcats that have tanked. And yes they did tank.

Here are some other notable tank jobs.

Yes, the Bobcats get DRAFT PICKS. Not the money to go out and buy the ALL STAR TEAM IN FREE AGENCY

That's absurd.

the 2nd paragraph of your post. I agree with.

personal experience watching it. Cavs... 2002. Tanked hardcore, traded away a Young and talented Andre Miller, to the Clippers, the ONLY team with a worse record than them, for Darius Miles... in an effort for the clippers to win more, and them less. For the LeBron james Lottery.

Hmm, haven't read the recent posts but just wondering if the community would think my team is tanking. In some ways I see us as tankers, we could decide to promote(maybe, East is really good ;)) but we wait instead to give us a better chance when we do finally promote. I want to see where people think that "gray area" is.

Main Point Against Us Tanking
-We are doing well, have one of the best teams in the league in fact
-I never decide to lose games on purpose through tactics, I always put out a good roster considering GS/training and whatnot

Points For Us Tanking
-We are making a solid weekly profit while in the cup(it will be less solid once we're out-note solid for D.IV)
-We train out of position a lot of the time(keeping us from full strength)
-I've purposely decided to save money instead of improving my team
-I occasionally "give-away" league games to go for the cup (I say "give-away" because my backups are often enough to win regardless)

And other random question, Do I need to I need to increase my arena much for D.II?

This should be the end of the discussion.
