an high % to draft a terrible player even if you put money into scounting

if you repeat your draft ten times, the possibility to get rich is less than the possibility to loose a lot of money, that's because there are too many dependent variables in the draft pick, IMHO

i could say that this year could be the first one, where i don't masde money with it - and normally i got an medium Pick(6-8 position) in a very active league. So the circumstances are really not that bad for the draft, especially with the high prices this and last season.

Ok i don't spend much, but 10k for scouting is normally not a loosing sitution, with less active opponent and/or luck you also could get the money for 6-7 draft in one season.

So why i can noit argue with the best case, if you argue with the worst case, and that a draft isn't a calculated buissness you also see in the NBA.

Of course it depends on your position, and 10k are a good compromise, and of course draft isn't a calculated business, but actually there is too "fortune" factor in draft.
Even if I spend 10k or more every week, I really don't know what kind of player my scouts are going to scrutinize (that's the main dependent variable I think), I also really can't understand why I can't know age or height of every single players...

everybody knows that current draft is mostly boredom and luck - you just assign some weekly money and then hope that your 5 star pick is a good player and not a useless one ('cause frankly i have seen both kind of 5 star picks )
the most strategic move i could do all these seasons was to move up on the list players with low rating but high potential (when i was lucky to scout them twice, of course) 'cause high potential youngsters tend to sell better regardless of skills.
everything else is just luck... i would like also to propose and not only to criticize, i'll think about it :)

size isn't implemented because it is to unique that you could find out who your friend draftet, and merge your draft lists - which give you both an advantage. I also liked it more when you get maybe an S for small instead the position, but this is another thing -> and to honest in basketball the people can not handle a folding rule i knew several player who are at least 10cm to high ;)

And age, maybe it isn't the pass age(which is faked sometimes too), but maybe something like a biological age - i am pretty sure you know it yourself there are kids who develop faster then others(not everyone get their first hair, who aren't on the head the same time) - and this age is maybe more important in considering youth as a training factor. Even when this is a really kind explanation for this weakniss, but for me it works^^

the worst draft that can happen:
(12284300)
(12284297)
(12284303)

4 players with the sum of potential=5 and sum-salary=7000

I don't think a person in my conference would give me informations about a player, because we are in competition with each other..I want that 18 Center 221 cm A+ perennial all star as much as he does...I don't think there'll be this merger of information...

I agree with the fact that draft is based on fortune, but if a scout analyzes a player twice, can't he really see if that player is tall as Yao Ming or Steve Nash?? and why can't he ask him his age?

maybe not you, but you also could invite friends to your league(or was this ht?), and at least in our league we share lot of our data ;) And if you don't draft on first or second position, it also makes sense for you. This draft i got A 18 A+ PF, and i draftet late so i won't get him but if i get the information about high potential 18J/4 Star players from a friend who scoutet early - i still get a good pick and maybe he becomes the PF instead of another team which scouted before me. Or i made a deal at the beginning of the season or ...

Barfing can happen when you have too much whine.

lol..no it doesn't. This isn't baseball. These GMs and scouts know the players age while they are still in middle school.

but the draft works at the same time for all people, you can't see what your "friend" drafted and so change your list! there is no before or after..

sorry I really don't understand what early and late mean if we are talking about draft...
