Hmm, not many people have greatly balanced teams though, I think most teams are stronger in either front or back court and then there is the other type of team, 4 plebs and a dominator (200+ salary). I like Coach Regans suggestion the best so far, low and high team salary.. Unless that is also what you are suggesting Zyler, I am reading your suggestion as a low/high cap per position..

u know in the fishbowl we always tried to get teams into the leagues they best fit cause there were 4 leagues best 2 worst

but like a few games into the season someone would always change their mind & sell their team & just play every game with 3 x 3k scrubs or decide to go for it & suddenly have a 250k big man

theyll say sorry it is what i have to do for"real" games & bad luck 4 the pl

I am hearing you mate, simple fact is there is no silver bullet. BUT..

Seeing as I am not in the fishbowl and want to have a PL to go in I would like to try and make it enjoyable, in no way am I trying to have any bearing on the fishbowl, I only use it as an example as it is a very cleverly set up and successful PL, I would be so lucky to attempt to get something that could satisfy a different selection of people..

Admirable mate but look at the previous posts, salaries in excess of 250k and less then 350k. Give it a couple of seasons, you seem to have a good list of young aussies on your hands, keep training and it won't be long before you move up in the world.

In my mind, the PL is more about learning the game and tactics, as opposed to competition.
So yer sometimes you might find that you go out and buy an awesome player which puts you above the threshold, and for the real game, you play that high salary team, and you want to play that team in PL so u can learn with them, but its just a courtesy thing really.

I dont people would be in the practice of 'bending the rules' so that you can win a PL. Its more for the benefit of playing against different teams with your current roster, trying different tactics, players in different positions without fear of injury, training minutes etc etc etc.
if someone ends up just playing scrubs, then yer ok that happens. if someone goes and buys an awesome player, it would be NICE if they didnt play their full salaried team int he PL, unless maybe by prior arrangement with the next opposition.

In my mind, its not really about who finishes first in the league, or competitiveness... more just about learning how the play the game better. :)
doesnt have to be perfect, just more accessable and tactically meaningful for us Div II and Div III teams who arent walking BB encyclopedia's yet.
