i think lifetime ban are a bit hard, more control and bans like the one from gatling are fine in my eyes.

A courius doping case, i just remember is the one from the german Table tennis player Otcharov who had a positiv test for Clenbuternol after he come back from a tournament in china. He offered the Nada and the german anti doping foundation, enough indication that he got cootamined through eaten meat in china.
I believe the point in his favour was:
- they give it sometimes to the animals in china
- there was also a very small concentration of clenbuternol in the blood of his teammate Timo Boll
- clenbuternol makes you stronger, but the muscle also get a tremor which is contra productive for a tt player
- a hair analysys showed that he doesn't use it long term, which is needed to get an effect out of it.
Another courious case was a german runner who claimed someone poisoned his tooth paste, but he got fined for it. And i don't think so many people believed him. I believed there was also controversial betwen the national and the international doping agencys about this case, probadly you can google for dieter Baumann. if you can translate it, this one is probadly quite intresting to read ->
