In this game in 90% of matches man to man is the best defence. However patient gives you an offence that is bad for man to man and I think that is an important tactical choice. If you are certain your opponent will play patient and run a guard at center for training just play a 3-2 zone and their goose is cooked.

I like the 2 - 1 - 2 D idea

2-1-2???

Please draw me a diagram of this defense, I'm having trouble picturing it. You can also post a youtube video or whatever, just visualise how this defense works.

I would just like to say that tonight in my cup game I will play patient and will enjoy watching every minute of my center putting up 40+ points.

I don't know if I have said this before but I think it is critical to the game.

Your opponent is playing LI, play M2M or maybe 2/3 (risky).
Your opponent is playing LP, play M2M or maybe 2/3 (risky).
Your opponent is playing BO, play M2M.
Your opponent is playing PTB, play M2M.
Your opponent is playing R&G, play M2M or maybe 3/2.
Your opponent is playing Motion, play M2M or maybe 3/2.
But...
Your opponent is playing Patient, play 3/2 or maybe 2/3.

It is the one offence that actually hurts M2M.

I do basically agree. The 2/3 zone is only for very unusual funky lineups but is still probably better than man to man if you are against a star SG at PF. I should have mentioned 1-3-1 is also good against patient as long as you are very confident about the matchups and rebounding situation.
